I read about it at teemings.org.
Hostile Dialect PMed me about the place. I was a few days behind most of the early rush, though.
Someone mentioned it in ATMB during cuntgate but did not provide a link. I found it via Google.
It went like this :
Zuul: Hey! Post here!
Me: Huh! Let me check it out.
Zuul: You really should post here.
Me: Eh....
Zuul: Damnit! Post here!
Me: I don't wanna!
Zuul: If you don't fucking post here, so help me....

I got a pm from fisheroo and came over.
I don't think so, therefore I'm probably not.
OtakuLoki sent me the link to both Domebo and Giraffe Boards.
I was just a lurker on the Dope and was generally not that invested beyond lulzing at the meltdowns. Frankly, the concept of splinter boards and all sorts of insurrection over not being able to say "cunt" amused me a lot, and I stuck around the new board that had the better drama.
Of course, nowadays I stick around because I am invested and I actually like you people for some reason.
I think that CRSP PM'd me. Maybe. Someone did for sure.

I got several PMs from people.
I had been inactive on the SDMB for close to a year. I was just tired of the tards (five or six very loud ones, I'm sure I don't need to name them), and the people I did like, I didn't see enough of.
So when the big shitstorm happened that caused the splinter boards, I wasn't even aware of it. fisha e-mailed me and told me this board had come into existence. I dropped by to see what was up, and found some people I liked. End beginning of story.

I was one of the original recipients of one of CRSP's PMs that caused all the hurt feelings.
It turned out he just PMd people who had been active on the SDMB recently and I was one of them.
I too was PM'd by CRSP, but it wasn't precisely because I was active on the Dope. (I don't think my average ever made it to 2 posts a day there). Nor was I ever particularly rebellious.
However, I had the joy of participating in the infamous SDMB buckeye thread, and as a result took part in some of the post-buckeye threads where people objected to the bizarre moderating engendered by that thread. I think CRSP took a couple of those threads and PM'ed all participants, on the theory we'd be good candidates for moving to a splinter board. At least in my case he was right.
As I recall, he took lists of names from several ATMB complaint/question threads and I think a handful of Pit threads for the first round of PMs.
A friend of mine, you know him as Sticks, was telling me about the drama and the cool new message board.
I decided to check it out, and though I don't get on often, I like it enough to keep coming back.
I was directed here by Artifex and my older brother, OneCentStamp. I was once an avid goon and frequented SA, but I really like it here.
