Default Come join me in a constant Yankees Angels Game 2 blog.

AJ Burnett is really dealing but Hunter got an excuse me drop-in ball near the Right Field foul line for a double. Thankfully he promptly got Vlad to ground out to Jeter.

I'm seeing on Twitter people are blaming the weather for the ball not traveling. Too cold or the wind?

That is about right, it is the cold and heavy air.

AJ opens with another good strike, a fastball with movement. Strike Out!

Ex-Yank Juan Rivera is up. He came up through the Yank farm system.

I might get in trouble, but I just linked to here from the Dope Playoff thread. Hopefully they will give me this one.

    And A-Rod is up.

2 easy outs and Swisher who has barely been hitting is up. He is 2 for 16 so far in the postseason. He almost always takes pitches though. He can frustrate pitchers even when he makes his outs.

Robby Cano is 2 for 15 so far. He is not known for patience but has been getting better. Down 0 and 2 is a tough count. Let’s hope he gets a pitch.

He did and Swisher goes home for the first run, 1st to home on the Cano Triple.

Now is Melky, who has been 3 for 14 so far.

AJ has had mostly great counts. He is really looking good. Aybar has hit well in the post season until last night. Hopefully AJ can also shut him down. Easy high fly to Swish.

Man Teixeira has the longest toes in baseball

Figgins is down 1-2 in the count.

Wrong guy to walk, 2 outs though.

AJ appears to be letting the runner get to him, always a bad idea. Got the count to 2-2. Figgins is off on the pitch but an easy out to Center.

So AJ used 45 pitches in 3 quick innings. This bodes well.

Molina made an easy out but Captain Clutch hits it Out! Jeter!!!!

    Saunders is a little rattled.

    ...

Not well played by Juan Rivera but not terrible. So Damon gets a single to setup the big guys.

Hitters count for Teix at 2-0. Fielder Choice sees Damon forced out at 2nd and Teix on 1st.

A-Rod up but an easy fly to right. Saunders is at 54 pitches. Not bad.

Gotta love two pitch outs and more acrobatic stretches by Teix. Damn you McCarver, I wrote that first.

Vlad is barely thrown out and Morales hit by pitch but at least there are two outs. Juan Rivera is back up. Juan drops 0-2 in the count. Molina is getting beat up though. Fans on their feet for the K. Ground out to Jeter!

Exactly the inning that Saunders needed. 3 fairly quick outs.

Bottom of the order for the Angels and AJ has a 2-1 count on Izturis before he gets a lead-off ground rule double.

Got an easy can of corn to Cabrera to hold the runner for the first out.
AJ is looking a little less sharp. First pitch balls and Izturis scores.

Stolen Base for Aybar. Figgins in a 1-1 count. He steps out.

Ball hits Figgins on the first. So runners 1st & 2nd.

AJ went from looking great to looking well less than great fast. Conference at the mound of course with Bobby Abreu up and two on.
    ...
Runners in motion on the full count and Abreu hits a foul. Pitch Count climbing fast this innings as another foul by Bobby.
    ...
A really deep fly to left with the wind really pushing it. Running on the pitch worked against the Angels this time.
    ...
Another first pitch ball. Down 2-0 in the count to Hunter. Come on AJ, what happened? 2-1 count. 2-2 count. Fans on their feet again for the rally ending strike out. Rudy G. is at the game tonight. Yet another conference at the mound. Full count, runners in motion of course. Walk for bases loaded. Pitch bounced into the stands.
    ...
Everyone on their feet again for another interminable conference on the mound with the 1-2 count for Vlad. AJ throws the ball away. Idiot! Game is tied. Finally out as Vlad grounds out to Jeter.

Things have turned around pretty quickly now. The Angels have picked things up a bit and the Yankees are slipping. If it wasn't for Teixeira, they'd be behind now.

I do not believe it. 1st and 2nd as Melky and now our worst hitter Molina get back to back singles. Jeter's turn.

Damn! Double Play. Bad call at 1st but on a bang bang play.

Jeter beat it, but umps often make the wrong call at first when it is close.

And Damon goes down. I am surprised Girardi let Molina hit and then left him in to run when he did get a hit. So clearly Girardi is planning to get another inning out of AJ.

Morales strikes out and Rivera has an easy fly out to right. Back to Izturis.

2-1 count, 3-1 count, come on AJ. 3-2 count. 104 pitches so far. Can of Corn to Melky Cabrera.

Napoli flied out to right but on a 3-2 pitch Cano blows a play and lets Aybar on with an error. First of the post season for the Yanks. AJ is out and Phil Coke is coming in.

Coke walks Figgins so runners 1st and 2nd for Bobby Abreu. Getting scary. Perfect Slider by Coke, he has been working on it all year. Strikes out Abreu.

    Joba Chamberlain coming in now.

Quick 0-2 count on Hunter with 2 outs and runners still 1st and 2nd. Now a pitch down low for a 1-2 count. Another high tension game and the count goes to 2-2. Now 3-2 count as Molina runs out to the mound. Expect high heat and no play on a slow grounder to Jeter. Bases loaded for Vlad.

Quick 0-2 count again for Joba. Foul count stays 0-2. I am getting pissed at Molina now. What the hell. Phew big K.

Swisher leads off with a single and pinch run for by Gardner. He should be off immediately. Another double play, oh man. Why Pinch run Gardner and never run him. Melky strikes out.

Quick out for Jorge. Jeter has a 1-1 count. 2-1, 2-2 as Jeter swings through a 97mph pitch and strikes out. Bad call by the Ump, dropping the ball on the tag means the play needed to be made at first.

    Damon goes down easy.

Two outs for Teix and A-Rod. Matsui gets a single and Guzman comes in to run.

I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.

Hit and run. Guzman to third and Gardner on First. Cano dribbles one to the pitcher.

    3 more outs after a lead-off single.

Now Darren Oliver has to stop Melky, Jorge and Jeter in the 10th.

Hunter got a terrible jump on that ball. Melky leads off with a single.

    Hunter apparently isn't.

Holy Cow. The Ump said Aybar never touched the bag. He was correct.

They walk Jeter of course. If you are going to lose, let Damon beat you, not Jeter.

And a full count of course. Pop-Foul 3rd base side. Down to Teix.

    Damn

Ace will be coming in for the next 2-3 innings.
