Default Female VG protagonists who have families?

A question that came up over the weekend and I didn't have an answer for. Can you name any strong lead female character in a videogame who has a family and background which exists and is interacted with during the game?

The catch. She has to be playable by the player, but has to have her own backstory and family and any love interest should be another NPC in the game not the playable lead hero.

The closet I could come up with was Rena Lanford from Star Ocean 2, but other than that drew a blank.

    Anybody got any good ideas?

Rinoa from FF8 kinda sorta counts. She might not meet everyone's definition of "strong female lead". But during the game she interacts with her father, and you she cut scenes about her mother.

The Final Fantasy series actually regularly has strong female leads who have families and backstories. In FFV there's even a trans character who is one of your party's main warriors and prefers to be seen as a man. FFIV has Rydia who you meet after her mother is killed and then gets an adopted family who become part of the backstory -- she's not only a fan favorite from the game, but also clearly beloved by the town she grows up in; also, she doesn't so much have a love interest as one of the PC's is in love with her.

Also, in XIII the main story arc is the main character searching for her sister who you do meet a few times; her sister's fiance (if you count that as family) is also one of the PC's. She's also the main character AND has no visible love interest in the game.

Kinda sorta related, Terra in FFVI ends up adopting children halfway through the game and her love interest dies even before that.

dag, I really thought I'd be able to make this list longer. v. sad, video game makers!

Now try to find one that has a love interest who is an NPC and not another playable character.

    It gets a lot trickier

Honestly, Lightning from FFXIII is the only one I can think of. And Morrigan from Dragon Age since romance with her is only optional and she's a main part of the story. Of course, her story includes her leaving in the end.

I believe Mass Effect and Halo and other Bioware games have characters such as you're looking for. A lot of the games I play today don't have a protagonist or you customize them yourself. Or are Ulala!

Edit: I don't think she exactly fits the criteria, but Alis from the original Phantasy Star didn't interact with her family much in the game -- as they were part of her backstory -- but she did later go on to have children.
