Good to have you back. Looking forward to seeing the photos
In the land of the blind, the one-arm man is king.
It's easy to get confused sometimes.
Remarkable NASA images of the Moon passing in front of the Earth: http://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/...-face-of-earth
Is Goddard the one staring at the Sun?
Don't know. Something here?: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goddard
That's an amazing image, EH. Strange how flat the moon seems with that shadow! To ask a probably stupid question, why are there far fewer apparent craters on the dark side of the moon? Is it just that it's not lit up as brightly as we see the other side?
Now to the game... here we have another example of a question I can't think how to ask in-character without Nia seeming either a) blind or b) inexperienced. I'm not sure if Nia and the other two are actually in the Brig, and where they are in relation to the cells. Can she see each Klingon? Can they see each other? If this were real life Nia would already know this because she's got two working eyes. And also because she's presumably been down in the Brig before.
I wish this were an old text adventure game. Then I would simply type:
> INSPECT BRIG
Hm. But I should be able to figure out a solution. Gonna mull this over for a few.
They have a theory for the smooth side of the moon - that it actually formed with a twin that just smooshed in that side and spread out. The moon's crust on the far side is thicker than the near side, which explains the lack of volcanic scars.. More articles.
No one's quite sure, although there are several good theories, as anyrose notes. Some interesting info here, and the same 2015 images of the Earth and Moon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Far_si...on#Differences
Good questions. I'll clarify this in the game thread.

Assuming Klingons have as basic an understanding of the Federation that it does of them, won't as least some of them find it odd that someone in Ops Yellow would be questioning them instead of someone in Security Red? I mean, that's like McCoy grilling the suspect before Briscoe and Greene read him his rights, no?

That's command yellow, thank-you-very-much!Anyhoo, Briscoe and Logan--the only partner I'll accept for Briscoe--have already questioned them to no avail, so it's time to bring out Nia and her big guns.
(Plus, red-wearing security officer St. Croix will be there.)
It just struck me: what's Collins doing now? Is she meeting with Cooper? Is she back on the Bridge?
I wonder if she'd be as amenable as St. Croix is to having Nia mock-yell at her.
Collins is still on the Bridge at the Security console, I believe.
Okiedoke, thanks. I misremembered her alternate plans if Graham hadn't woken up soon.
I'm not sure I can forgive you giving Kylah a guy named Soerjosoemarno to interact with. I have to cut and paste his name every time because there's no way I can remember how to spell that!![]()
Lumch with Cooper was "yesterday". Today Collins is having a normal watch. And she'd play along, albeit more dramatically than St Croix, or maybe she'd give Onn an opportunity to exact punishment, all for the benefit of the audience of course.
eta - while watching Onn's cosmetic transformation, she'd admire the idea, wishing she'd thought of it, and curse her Irish/Scottish heritage.
I've lost count of days, I'm as bad as Kylah.
I wish Collins were around! Maybe we'll get lucky and she'll get to relieve Kawecki in the Brig.
Next time I hope you use Jones or Fox!And just imagine how all the players would be cursing if we'd kept Nia's full name. Everyone's apostrophe key would be worn out by now.
Sorry I've not been around, life's been busy.![]()
In the land of the blind, the one-arm man is king.
I'm just wondering what on earth gave Villa the impression Graham and Rangin were friends. Was she not around during one of the multiple fights they had in Sickbay while Kylah was recovering?Looking forward to seeing Velir's reaction to that message!
Sometimes even the CMO can be misinformed.
Having the boss stop by to check on you hardly counts as a visitor. Boss only wants to know when you're coming back to the office.![]()
She knows they're roommates. She's giving them bro-time.
Your next two posts should be the last for "today" in ship's time. I'd like to move the plot forward to the next morning and eventually the Watney rendezvous. Thanks.
Two posts?
Drat, Rangin is still supposed to annoy Graham in Sickbay and then have dinner with Kylah today.
Oh wait - he's getting smooched by Bennett (isn't she already involved with someone else?) and Kylah is still ill.
I'm probably good til tomorrow then.
In the land of the blind, the one-arm man is king.
Yeah, I had to make Kylah ill in order to explain why she didn't visit Graham or see Velir, or get her communicator fixed, none of which would've been possible in two posts. Hopefully we'll pick things up tomorrow!
And don't get me started on that hussy Bennett and Mr. "out of sight, out of mind" Graham!![]()
you shoulda switched accounts for that last sentence, kiddo![]()

Let me know (that is, through Thalen or Park in the game thread) if you'd like your character to play a role in Fujishiro's funeral service - a favorite reading, song, a personal tribute, etc.

Yeah, that's not Collins' style, but thanks for asking. She's not even sure if her request (which she has yet to make) to be let off watch early to attend will be approved

Hey maybe she'll already be off watch? We rarely know our schedules (unless I'm missing an announcement or somethin'). I think Collins is the only one of the active PCs--well, maybe Rangin, since he's visited her the most--who'd be likely to say anything or do something for the service. Of the other PCs, Kylah knew her only briefly, Graham never met her while she was conscious, and Nia... hmm, I suppose Nia could've known her, but it's unlikely. T'Var would probably participate too, and I imagine she will. Poor Fujishiro.
Fair points. Assume all your characters will be off-watch, or would be excused early, if they ask.
Here's an interesting piece on the women who wrote ST:TOS episodes (including "This Side of Paradise"). More than you might've expected for 1960s Hollywood, including the inimitable D.C. (Dorothy) Fontana: http://www.blastr.com/2016-3-16/meet...riginal-series
Also, the original USS Enterprise 11-foot shooting model from ST:TOS is getting a refit at the Smithsonian. The first video deals with the nacelles, in particular; it's followed by a link to a longer second video which is more of an overview on the entire project. Both well worth a look: http://redshirtsalwaysdie.com/2016/0...nacelle-refit/
Wow, that's a great find, thanks EH. Love the URL too.![]()
We're proving it wrong, though, aren't we...?
Would, say, three more posts apiece be enough to bring us up to Fujishiro's funeral?
That's fine w/me, FWIW! Just gotta get Kylah over to rehearsal. (Where would she go, btw? She asked Thalen but he, alas, seems to have forgotten she's a newbie to the ship.) Thanks!
Technical question: How would you say these musicians would access their music? Would it be downloaded from the nearest computer with library access? Or could Kylah download it in her room and just transfer it to her fellow musicians via the 23rd-century equivalent of Bluetooth? Or would she just print it out, old school? Sheet music would probably be difficult to read on a datapad; how would you turn the pages? By swiping downwards?
...Unless we posit that there are specific types of musician datapads that are larger and, to get really sci-fi about it, the devices can be synched with the instrument to scroll down when necessary; no interaction necessary, which would sure be a boon to anyone who knows what a pain-in-the-neck page-turning can be.
Sorry, folks. I was at a Mensa con this weekend and was too distracted by friends, food, and beer to bother posting.![]()

No prob, anyrose, and welcome back.
choie, rehearsal could be in a crew lounge somewhere. I think we've seen sheet music in use as late as the TNG era, so you could go with that, if you wish.
Collins' back is to the Mess entrance, so unless Cooper waves at Onn and Graham, or they come over to the table, Collins wouldn't know they've come in.
Would our characters don dress uniforms for this funeral?
If we get the yes we can always describe our extra braiding and so on.![]()
