Oh wow, Steven. Yes, that is ancient. My knowledge of anything pre-Pertwee is spotty, although Troughton is my third favorite Doctor.

No, I am not Terry Pratchett. I'm ashamed to say I've never read his stuff, although from what I know of it--the style of humor, the world-building--it sounds as if I'd like it a lot. Of the fantasy novel series I mean to read "someday," that, and the Harry Dresden books, are right up there. (Well... after I finally read Lord of the Rings yes I know I'm terrible please don't hurt me EH.)

You were correct as to all three of my IQs. I thought it was poor Phil Hartman's girlfriend, not wife, who killed him.

I'm not a zombie-movie guy usually, but I liked World War Z. I haven't read the book and thus didn't have any particular expectations.

And if you promise to at least try LOTR sometime this year, all will be well. ;-)

No, unfortunately it was Brynn Hartman, Phil's wife; she then killed herself. I guess it's fortunate she didn't kill the kids too. (She just left them alone in the house with their dead parents.) But with a modicum of sympathy toward her I remember she was strung-out on a bunch of drugs, and maybe she realized what she'd done she couldn't live with herself--it wasn't as if she was going on a killing rampage.

I do have the LOTR books! I bouguht them right after watching the trilogy (you may remember this epic thread), which was nearly five years ago.... oy, what have I been doing all this time instead of reading the darn things?
