Mellophant Vbulletin Upgrade
The forum has now been upgraded to Vbulletin 4.0.
If you notice any bugs due to the upgrade, or if you have any suggestions, please list them here.
We will be looking to put the original style for the site at some point, so you will have to live with the default style for a while.

The chatbox is turned back on, appears to be working.
The vB Drupal plugin appears to need to be reinstalled, so Front Page Articles forum is currently turned off.
I'm still going through the rest of the plugins.

It's all new and different - and not green!
There was a blue theme for the old board. That's what I always used.
I miss the green, but I've used this new version of VBulletin on another board and it's got some new features I like. Notably I like the profile screen better and it makes some things easier to track.
But most especially the 'new posts' button is the best thing ever.

I realize that I'm probably the only one here to say this, but I farkin' hate the gorram "Quick Reply" box, and wish it would die a slow and painful death. I much prefer the way previous versions of vB handled the "Reply" function as well.

I hate it, too, actually. You can still go to a separate post screen by clicking the "advanced" button under Quick Reply, but it's not as seamless as it was in earlier versions. I'm wondering if we could get around this "feature" somehow.Originally posted by Tuckerfan

Just out of curiosity, why do you guys dislike the quick reply? I think it's a lot faster that having to load up a whole separate page.
Edit: The "+ Reply To Thread" button just above the quick reply box takes you to a separate screen.

Screen real estate. I don't have a big monitor, and I hate having space on it taken up by unnecessary things (especially since I don't reply to 90%+ of the threads I look at, so its hardly a needed "feature" for me).

Is anyone else having any issues with logging into the site? If you are and can't log in now, send me an email at ldycaerie at yahoo dot com. I've only had one user email me about it so far and if it's a more common problem I need to know what the common thread is so we can resolve it.

From experimentation it appears that so long as there is a /me tag in the chat window it will not load properly for an IE user, regardless of who used the /me. I'm going to disable that command for now until we resolve it.

Yeah, I don't either. They're going to work on restoring the old themes, according to what they were telling us in chat. But apparently that's not a simple, easy task so it may take some time.
Is there any way, someday, we could discuss about expanding the file size for avatars? So far Sybil is the only one of low enough quality to fit the board.

I hate the quick reply, but mostly I hate that it doesn't have the handy buttons to push that automatically add the image tags or what have you.
I agree that the default vb skin is ...... unattractive.

Panther, yeah - that's what I mean. And it's there in the standard skin - but in the Green and Mello skin, it's not there.
It's there, it's just that the font is white and you need to highlight. Either the title bar needs to be darkened or the font color changed. Just a little hex code change somewhere.

No, I think I wasn't very clear: I actually have no idea whether it's easy or not. It's a different setup than the styles were in the previous version of vB. Having only glanced at the styles before anyway (I wasn't an admin when they were being created), I'm simply not the person to judge.
Green and Mello was just an experiment to see if I could change colors (yippee, I can). We'll (most likely CIAS, maybe me if I have the time and patience to stumble like a moron for several hours) be making real styles eventually and they will be similar to what we had before.For the Green and Mello skin, the post time stamp has disappeared. Styles were completely redone in VB4 and there is no direct conversion process to change it.
I have the details for the old style, it just might take a while and some playing around to make it look roughly the same.

We have two new styles, courtesy of CIAS:
Green and Mello, which is based off of our previous green style.
Light and Mello, a nice new mobile style. This has style chooser so you don't have to worry about getting stuck with it now, either.
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.
This page does not need a "Post New Thread Button." It has one, and if you click it, you get a message telling you that you can't start a new thread.

spitz, I was having trouble with it tonight...or thought I was. When you click on the little triangle next to the person's name, the dropdown menu shows up all the way below the chat window...I had to scroll down to get to it. So, I thought it wasn't popping up, but I actually just couldn't see it.
