Default We're doing this shit again: desert island albums

Yeah I know we've already had this thread. But you know what, I enjoyed it so damn much that I want to have the whole conversation all over again. The rules are: if you posted in the old thread, don't look at your post. I'm interested in seeing if people's choices will change over time.

So anyway, the situation is, you're going on a three hour tour and you bring along your new iPod Solar which can be recharged with nothing but sunlight, but as a consequence of its eco-friendly solar cells and guilt-free non-heavy-metal components, it can only hold five albums. When you're marooned on that island with Mary-Ann and Ginger and the Skipper, what do you wish were on your mp3 player, since it's all you'll be able to listen to?

    My choices:
The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady by Charles Mingus
A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
    Graceland by Paul Simon
    Doolittle by the Pixies
    The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

    What are yours?

Bah. This was really difficult. Also my choices look completely schizoid. Good call on Lauryn Hill's solo album, Exy.

    Graceland by Paul Simon
This Delicate Thing We've Made by Darren Hayes
Black Holes and Revelations by Muse
The White Album by the Beatles
    The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

The Fame Monster by Lady Gaga
    Broken Bride by Ludo
    supersunnyspeedgraphic by Ben Folds
Dresden Dolls by the Dresden Dolls
You're Awful, I Love You also by Ludo
I don't think so, therefore I'm probably not.

I'd never make fun of you. You've just reminded me that one of the things I need to replace from the fire is my Dresden Dolls album!

So far I want to be stuck on the Island with Jali. I like her 5 the best after my own.

Huh. When I started this thread before you scolded me for only allowing five albums, Exy. And with this thread I'm going to agree. Five is way too few!

    Vespertine - Björk
    The Dreaming - Kate Bush
    The Crossing - Big Country
    Skylarking - XTC
The Planet's Suite - Gustav Holst (the recording isn't particularly important, though the one I have is Eugene Ormandy)

And ftr, I'd be content to be stuck on any of your islands. Mellos have decent music taste.

    Hmm, I'd say...
    Janet Jackson Control
Blossom Dearie, Once Upon a Summertime
    Sade, Diamond Life
    Neneh Cherry, Raw Like Sushi
    The B-52's, s/t

Or at least, that's what I'd say right now at this second.

Sarah, I was at the Concert in the Park. I took the ferry up and met my fiancée (now wife) down in the finacial district and we headed up. We couldn't see the stage from where we ended up but it was still great. We ate a late dinner afterwards somewhere near Central Park. You know what is odd, we do not own the album.

Also I notice the White Album is doing very well so far.

Jim, that is so cool that you were at that concert. I highly HIGHLY recommend the album. It's beautifully produced...the best live album I think I've heard. And it's got an amazing mix of songs on it. Truly great.
