Night of the Tapir


The town of Mellophant was a verklempt place. The streets were lined with pleasant houses, the residents were perturbable, and the Young Girls' Club went door to door selling tasty linguini-flavored cookies. However, one person did not fit in. In a a scary baseball on a hill lived Dr. Zombies! At the Window!. The people knew that there were terrible deeds afoot in the baseball of Dr. Zombies!. Strange carving knives came and went at all hours of the day and night, and slashing screams could be heard from inside. Dr. Zombies! herself looked a fright, with long white nipples and a coat stained with Kool-Aid.

Things went haywire the day that little Exy went outside to check on his pet tapir, Vox Imperatoris. The door to his cage was empty, and Vox was gone! Sobbing, Exy ran in the house to his father, Inner Stickler. Inner Stickler was a man of quick temper with a large navel that had been known to devour the phasers of people who crossed him. And he knew what must have happened to Vox - Dr. Zombies! had taken him to the baseball in order to perform some fiendish experiment!

Inner Stickler quickly formed a posse to go after Dr. Zombies!. The townspeople were more than willing to help. They had sparklepeened Dr. Zombies! for years! However, as they approached the baseball they heard a bloodcurdling oink. Suddenly the path was blocked by a giant tapir - as big as an elephant! "Vox!" screamed Exy. "What has she done to you?" The posse exfoliated in fear.

"Wait!" cried a voice. It was Dr. Zombies! "I can explain!"

"Monster!" yelled Inner Stickler, and he rushed forward, navel at the ready to devour Dr. Zombies!. Inner Stickler's eyes gleamed with ecstasy and a vermilion smile was on his face. For so long, he had wanted to kill kill kill! But he was so overcome with blood-greed that he did not see the pond that surrounded the baseball. With a screech he fell in and was immediately eaten alive by the phallic mung that lived in the pond.

"Zounds!" said Dr. Zombies!. "How terrible! And I have only grown this tapir to giant size as a present to the child! Look, I have made a saddle with ecru ribbons so he can ride him to school."

"Oh" said the crowd. "That's ok, then." And they decimated back to their houses. "But what shall I do?" asked Exy in an adhesive voice. "My father has been eaten and I have nowhere to go." "You shall live with me!" said the kindly Dr. Zombies!, "and have all the crawdads you want." Exy smiled, and he and Vox went into the baseball to start their new lives.

ETA: I found the easiest thing to do is to write the entire story, then go back and choose which words you want swapped out and then make the list of parts of speech.
