We have winds gusting up to 50mph right now. This caused a large tree branch from the oak in my backyard to break and crash through three of the windows in my sun room, breaking the windows but (as far as I can tell in the dark) leaving the rest of the sun room stable. I've also just sliced a nice chunk of my knee while trying to (duh) push the largest part out of one of the windows. Ruined a new pair of jeans, dammit. Blood. Yuck.

Son of a bitch. I was hoping to go to bed soon, too. My guess is that the wind will knock the power out before this ends. Someone call me at 6PM to make sure I'm up for work, please?

So, out of curiosity, is post padding officially allowed?

Well, if you're going to make chat perks dependent on post counts, and chatting is what brings you to this community, then I don't see where it can be helped.

By the way, I don't approve of how you've treated Grimace in the past. I hope you've seen the error of your ways and have changed your behaviour.

Holy crap, 5er! Are you guys okay? Did any of the kittehs escape out into the wind and gloom? Is your knee alright? Did you get them boarded up somehow?

Damn, all I did last night was sleep.

For once, Hoser is not that thrilled with the prospect of going outside. Neither am I. I've just shut the large doors to the sun room for now because there's not much else I can do, but I can feel the wind breaking (get it? Breaking wind? Yeah, I've been drinking. Luckily it's not my grampa jeans that got cut.)

And will you call and make sure I'm up in time to go to work if my power goes out?

Not according to the text messages from Mayor McCheese. Of course, he had to leave office in a whirl of scandal afterward.

Damn, that's gotta hurt. Having all that Taco Smells hot sauce in your drawers.

But the mild is nice, with butter and rice.

Ya know, that's gotta be the worst picture I have taken of myself in a long time.

My hairline looks like it's slipping away and I don't know why my face is all puffy like that.

    I need a new avatar.

Nah, you just need elf ears and a full beard photopshopped in, plus maybe a hat of some kind.

I could do that but then I'd have to do it for everyone.

Because I wouldn't want to be 'elfish you know.

Man, you are so altruistic. Go ahead and put elf ears on me. But leave off the beard. I'm trying to live my life openly.

What's a zombie thread? I assumed it was a thread with a zombie theme, but I'm starting to think it's something else.

'Adapt' contains the letters that spell 'pad'. Isn't that interesting?

... with an extra 'a' and an extra 't'. You could spell 'at' with those.

A zombie thread is a thread which has died, but someone has revived, usually for shits and giggles.

OK then - is there any difference between that and a 'bumped' thread?

Yes. Zombie threads are presumed dead--they've been dormant a really long time. Bumped threads have just dipped in action for a couple of hours/days so they're not at the top of the heap anymore.

Ah. I guess some would be either/or, depending on how each person defined each?

Generally, it's pretty obvious which is which. If a thread has been dormant a couple of days before you post, you're bumping. If a thread has been dormant a couple of months or years before you post, it's generally considered a zombie.

Yeah, but on Mello, it's no big deal either way. On certain boards, the mods will jump in and close zombie threads, and can be a bit huffy about bumps.

This one could be an anniversary celebration of the original post.
