    Default Your Music: A-Z

This is just a little fun thing I thought of: open up iTunes (or whatever other library you use) and post the first and last thing sorted alphabetically under:
    Artist?
    Track?
    Album?

    For me:
    Artists:
    Tracks:
    Albums:

ETA: Mine is without counting numbers or Cyrillic characters.

Hmm, my music app doesn't seem to have a "list all songs" option so I used my iPod:

    Artist:
!!!, or if that doesn't count, ABBA
    Zu & Spaceways Incorporated

    Track:
    * (by M83), or if that's no good, 11:59 (by Blondie), or A (by the Barenaked Ladies)
    [Z Twig] (by Aphex Twin)

    Artists:

    Tracks:
Ain't no Sunshine When She's Gone (Bill Withers) to Your Woman (Whitetown)

    Albums:
ABBA Gold to White Hot (Johnny Dangerous)

Okay, since the first one I did was not counting numbers and Cyrillic (iTunes sorts the Cyrillic alphabet in its order after the Latin alphabet), this one is:
    Artists:
    Tracks:
    Albums:
Nec audiendi qui solent dicere, vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultuositas vulgi semper insaniae proxima sit.

A comrade! (Your loyalty to the Motherland is a bit uncertain, though. )

I'm also afraid that ABBA's going to be over-represented here.

    Ignoring numbers

Artist: Alan Parsons Project to ZZ Top
Tracks: Achilles Last Stand (Zep) to You've Got To Hide Your Love.. (Beatles)
Albums: Abbey Road to Yes Songs

Pretty representitive of my music actually Beatles, Zep and Yes are 3 of my top 4 groups. I love ZZ Top and have been to two of their concerts. Alan Parsons Project is the only oddball.

I have just reinstalled my OS and have no music on this computer currently.
The only thing that comes close is a CD list:
    Artists:

    Abraham
    ~
    Zhao Cong

    Albums:

    5
    ~
    Zuma

Artists: a-ha to ZZ Top (or 54-40, if we're counting numbers)
Songs: AD 1928 (Styx) to Zombie Dance (Alice Cooper) (or "$" by Prince, if we're counting numbers and symbols)
Albums: Abandoned Luncheonette (Hall and Oates) to Zoso (Led Zeppelin) (or "3121" by Prince, if we're counting numbers)

    That's a pretty good mix.
    Hell is other people.

I didn't count numbers in mine, so I got:

Artist: Abney Park to the Zombies
Track: Absolute Beginners (David Bowie) to Ziggy Stardust (same)
Album: Absolution (Muse) to Zer0space (Kidney Thieves)

I'm glad someone else had ZZ Top.

Now that I am home, my larger collections
    Artists: A3 to ZZ Top
Songs: Absolutely Curtains (Pink Floyd) to Zig Zag Dance (Apparently something from Sesame Street.)
Albums: Abandon (Deep Purple) to YesYears

    I'm skipping anything in kanji.

Track: A' Soalin' by Peter, Paul and Mary; to Zombie Prostitute by Voltaire
Album: Kate Bush' Aerial to The Wurst of P.D.Q Bach

    Artists: Air to YUP
Tracks: "Absent Friends" by The Divine Comedy to "Zebra" by The Magnetic Fields
Albums: ABBA-esque by Erasure to You Will Go to the Moon by Moxy Fruvous

All in all, pretty good. I love Air, and YUP is a cool band I only have a few songs from -- they're a Finnish band.

(Not counting numbers, also my music collection was extremely depleted by the recent harddrive wipe. I lost about 1000 songs)

    Artist: Aimee Man to Yomada
Track: About to Shine by Autumn Defense; Ziggie Stardust by David Bowie
Album: A.M by Wilco; Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips.

Artist: Arvo Pärt to Yoshikazu Mera
Track: ...And Justice For All by Metallica; Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana by Kishore Kumar
Album: ...And Justice For All by Metallica; Zahmia Lemanni: Songs of Byzantine Flowers by SPK

That was fun! I re-discovered some stuff I haven't listened to in a while.

Artist: AFI - 10cc/Zero 7 (depending on which method you choose, ignoring my one Kanji artist)

    Track: 2112/Ziggy Stardust
(ignoring a track mislabeled "Zwölf Variations in G-Dur WoO 45", which I fixed)

    Album: Abbey Road - 2001(Dr. Dre)/Zimulated Experience(Phoenix Orion)

Technically I have some A-Team samples first which I added Artist & Album tags to keep them together, but I'm not counting those. I also label live concerts by the date & venue for 'album', which would put Glen Philips' "2005-05-08 Neumo's" as last using numbers.

I never knew that clicking on the Album column in iTunes switches it to 'Album by Artist/Year'. Possibly a recent feature (annoying, too, since it hides behavior and requires hitting the sorting triangle exactly).
