No swear words in thread titles on the Dope

or maybe a few. Or characters instead of the actual swears. Or something. I'm confused - can someone translate this thread for me?

Ed rescinded the rule:

OK, having talked it over with Gfactor, I'm throwing in the towel on this one - too much trouble. We'll go back to what we had before, which was basically: (a) Profanity is permitted in thread titles. (b) Don't go nuts. (c) We reserve the right to do something about titles we think are over the top. This will of course dash our plans to market the Pit as the place to advertise Girl Scout cookies and flowers for mom, but we'll think of something.

I thought it was a stupid rule to begin with, and creates unnecessary complications in enforcing the rule. However, Ed's post seems to imply the rule is only repealed for thread titles, not posts. Or not.

I'm glad Ed's at least listening to what the posters and mods are saying, and making some changes. But it's too little too late at this point to restore the SDMB to what it was. Which is sad. I spend more time lurking here than there these days.
