Thank God for that, general_urko, because otherwise we'd be waiting for T'Var to speak and that won't occur until tomorrow morning.

But OMG, Collins is killing me. Graham does this whole big mea culpa and accepts responsibility and yadda yadda, and her response is basically, "yeah and?" Not any acknowledgment of his comments, not a "thank you," not a request to know what Palver said to chastize her underling... just "whatever, go on." Damn.

Seriously! You definitely deserve it, and a Golden Globe too. It must take a lot of will power not to accidentally make Collins good at her job.

I will post a response to Graham, Delaney, and Rangin as soon as I get a response from EH on a plot point from the first mission

What I'm wondering is why she didn't ask Rangin or Delaney to report. Or why she herself didn't report. It's like she has no concept of sharing information except in one direction--from us to her. But, like Kylah, I am no longer surprised by anything Collins does or doesn't do.

I'd love to know Delaney's thoughts on all this; wasn't he the leader in the first mission?

Heh, EH, I was just reading earlier in the game thread (just a few posts back) and saw your edit to my post where I wasn't certain if Delaney had gotten Kylah her cocoa:

Last edited by Elendil's Heir; Yesterday at 11:07 PM. Reason: Cocoa delivered, yes, ma'am!

Holy crap, it's only 8:00?! How slowly does time pass on this planet?

Starting at 6PM, Kylah met Jan for dinner, had a drink, then an appetizer, then they went out walking and made out, then they ended up at his place, Jan got changed, and then they had sex that was 'awesome', Kylah left and met the others, they had twenty minutes before their meeting in which she was able to take a long shower, they had their "debriefing" (or what Collins was pleased to call a debriefing, anyway), and disbanded.

Could all that really happen in just two hours? I mean, if we work backwards, even assuming the debriefing was like ten minutes long, that plus the twenty minutes delay means they all reached the station at 7:30. This means Kylah and Jan managed to have drinks, appetizer, walk, make out, Jan get changed into his clothes, then have sex, in only 90 minutes? Golly. Jan must think Kylah is the easiest gal in the star system.

choie, what time do you think it should be? 2000 seemed about right to me, all in all. Would 2100 be better?

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Anytime between 2000 and 2200 is plausible to me, depending on how you judge the "filling in the gaps" between RPG action and quote-unquote real [game] life.

I would be happy with 21:00, happier still with 21:30, and positively orgasmic with 22:00.

Er. I may overstate the case. But 22:00 would be great.

21:00 would be preferable from my view as well, it means the night is still young for those who haven't had as much excitement as others.

Erm, how does Collins know the others are in the mess hall? Rangin didn't issue the invitation until he was out of the room.

Hey it ain't my fault that my character got an emergent subplot out of nowhere--it was only because Kylah was able to schmooze a guest during the afternoon when we were out investigating. (She did the same thing with the New Paris old guy, for that matter.) What can I say, I'm roleplaying my ass off here!

That raises all sorts of interesting questions about what may happen when T'Var and Rangin go "hiking" in the morning with the Gunnarsons.

Thread won. And also now I'm mad at myself. I can't believe I've been (mentally) using the term "sporerape" for a couple of weeks now (or however long it was since EH and I came up with this plot) and never considered "sporegasm."

Hey go for it. At this point Kylah couldn't give a half a Federation credit if Collins did hear her--she might have spoken it even louder if she knew Collins were around the corner!

Apparently Collins doesn't realize these are letters and thought Graham was sounding out meaningless syllables. So we can add illiteracy to her many flaws.

I remember hearing about a Texas politician who was reported to be learning Spanish. One of his longtime foes joked, "Oh, great - now he'll be bi-ignorant!"

Heh. And btw, sorry for Kylah's not acknowledging your latest member of the United Nations NPC Club.* I just assumed she was in some other part of the mess hall! I guess Kylah's excuse is that too distracted to pay attention.

    * Seriously, you are trying your hardest to include an NPC from every country in the world, right? Is that a challenge you're giving yourself? It's totally something I would do.

    EDITED TO ADD:

Seriously! Man, it's gotta be hard being an NPC. No respect. I'd love to see a confrontation between Delaney and Collins. He was the leader of the first mission, wasn't he? Before he was demoted from PC to NPC?

Edited to add: I just envisioned a mission where all the NPCs rise up together to fight the PCs. Like, they're tired of being ghettoized and ignored and so they form a coalition to take out the PCs who get all the honor, promotions and storylines.

Yes, I do like to show the Federation's and Starfleet's national/ethnic diversity. Every third NPC or so is a non-North American. Hope that's not overdoing it.

In a world where we truly have overcome the legacy of Many Bad Things, I suspect 1-out-of-3 would be an under-representation.

But IMO a very fine step on the way!

I'm all for different country representation--I just find it amusing that your representative countries are getting more and more abstruse. (Not that Cameroon is all that unfamiliar, but... I'm waiting for you to mention a xenolinguist from Palau.) If anything, I actually think Earth is over-represented in NPCs -- hence Kylah's mentioning how strange it is that most of the guests are from Earth. The Federation has... how many planets in it, at this point? We should be seeing more people with weird bumps on their heads, shouldn't we?

Oh man, she really doesn't want to give Kylah any credit whatsoever, does she? Or maybe she just doesn't listen when Kylah speaks. Kylah has been mistrustful of recreational use of the spores since they got here and her report indicated that she doesn't trust that enough is being done to ensure that the spores have no bad reprecussions.

Much more than that and I think it would be a bit too jarring or strained, considering the makeup of Starfleet we saw in ST:TOS.

general, I misunderstood - I thought he just had a T-shirt (Starfleet regulation black) on underneath his uniform shirt. Why don't you each say in the game thread how your characters will be dressed. Starfleet uniform would meet the dress code at the nightclub; pants and a T-shirt would not.

I loves me some aliens so, like Prince's mother in "When Dove's Cry," I'm never satisfied. Actually I really don't know enough about the Federation in the TOS era so the high concentration of humans to non-humans may very well be correct. Whatever you create is a-ok with me!

OK, so I can't seem to manage getting Graham dressed, he'll wear his uniform...I guess I didn't mention pants in #1321. He does put on pants, specifically uniform pants...
