Lupin is my favorite character in the HP books by far. To elaborate on my comment re: the action hero--that he accomplished something few others did--that refers to the fact that unassuming Remus was the only person to survive three big battles without so much as a scratch: the Battle of the Department of Mysteries (where he was the only dueler who wasn't hurt aside from Dumbledore and Harry), the Battle of the Astronimy Tower and the Battle of the Seven Potters. Lupin was hardcore and awesome but no one, especially the makers of the last three bloody movies, seemed to realize it. And I will never forgive Rowling for what she did to him in Book 7, especially since it was a last-minute decision. Damn her!

- TBH - from the comment about not being an unexpected action hero made me think of Neville Longbottom, but he survived the final fight. I then wondered given your comments about novels and films if it wasn't a harry potter one and had to check quickly to see if Lupin had died.
