    Default Going Postal

I had the pleasure of watching the last Terry Pratchett adaption over the Bank Holiday weekend of Going Postal. Its also a step up from the other two adaptations done of Hogfather and The Colour of Magic.

Excellent acting all round and they managed to get stick fairly close to they story. At least as well as they could in the 3-4 hours they had instead of the entire book. The few changes they did make, were reasonably thought out and didn't jar.

Richard Coyle was excellent as conman Moist von Lipwig, David Suchet was suitably evil as Reacher Gilt and Charles Dance is definitely the Patrician. Certainly much more than Jeremy Irons was. Now if only they had dyed his hair black as well. And before I forget Adora Belle Dearheart was toned down for the show and still came across as someone not to be taken lightly.

Amusing Irony #1. The man playing Mr. Pony, the chief technician of the Clacks starred in a set of adverts recently for the Post Office in the UK.

And it was good to see another cameo from the creator itself.

I only saw the adverts for this but it looked great. I thought it was a trailer for a film, not a tv series. The production values seem to have increased immensely from the previous adaptations.

When, oh when, will it be shown on U. S. tv?

Good question Clothahump. I found nothing on an American showing yet.

I'm glad to hear it is better than Hogfather. I did not enjoy that adaptation.

What was wrong with Hogfather, I thought it was fairly well done?

I found it slow and boring and my kids wandered out of the room. It never came close to the mood and pace of the book somehow.
