I think people who get cars with only 2 doors just want to discourage people from asking for a lift. Why get a 2 door when you can fit 4 doors in the same space?

I have a 2003 Ford Focus Wagon I bought new and it will hit 150,000 miles shortly. I plan to get another year or two out of it. Then I hope to find a better gas efficient highway commuter car. Probably a hybrid, but hoping for a plug-in at least. My commute is nearly 40 miles each way. So I am tough on cars. It is hard to believe I have had this wagon for 7 years now. I do tend to get my money's worth out of cars.
I've done well, since I bought my first new car in 1992, I have had only 3 total.
I have no experience with Citroens.
This is my exact car down to the color, except for the light bar on the roof...the only Jeep Liberty Renegade I could find in the area didn't have one.
It's got about 80,000 miles on it now, but I want to keep it going until at least 120,000. Knock wood, it hasn't given me a lick of trouble so far. I really love this car, and when I get a new one I'll probably just replace it with basically the same thing.
FYI Citroens are extremely uncommon in the US. I don't think they've been widely sold here for years, if ever.
I drive a Subaru Impreza but not one of the tricked-out ones with the scoop and spoiler and things. It's really quite a sedate looking car but I can't find a good picture of one online.

2003 Pontiac Vibe GT. Same color, but the plastic molding is painted the same as the car. Factory special ordered for me by my hubby, Fast Eddie. Delivered in April 2002, and just turned 50,000 miles on our last trip to Salt Lake City earlier this month. I ♥ my car!

Zuul, I have the same disappointment with the axing of Pontiac.
2007 Saturn ION. Great car. It really pissed me off when Saturn discontinued the ION. It pissed me off even more when GM discontinued Saturn.

I drive a navy blue 1999 Toyota Tercel
It currently has about 190,000 km (118,000 miles) on it and is showing no signs of wearing down. The biggest fix so far has been getting new tires, although I'm due to get the brake pads replaced pretty quick. Yes, it is gutless. On the other hand, I get spectacular mileage and the car simply will not break down.

My baby! Comfy and loyal, considering I've beat the shit out of it. 2000 Oldsmobile Alero, with something like 146,000 miles on it. I've also illustrated my picture to make it more personal.
The blue shows some bangs I got on it from driving like an idiot one cold and snowy night on the Kancamagus highway. The red crosses show my fog lights which have gotten knocked off over the years. The brown "boo" is some rust creeping in near my gas nozzle. And what appears to be a small fire on my dash is just the multiple warning lights that never go away.
The leather seats would burn your bum on a hot summer day too, which is why I never wear shorts.

You are correct that there are Very few Citroëns in the US. They were declared illegal years ago because of the hydropneumatic suspension - a huge irony as they were the only vehicles on the road where the bumpers remained at the right height regardless of load while all others are load sensitive.
At the time, Citroëns would sink to the ground when the engine was off but rise to the right height when the engine was started.
Citroën just stopped exporting to the US. There are some privately imported ones but they are a rarity. They still don't comply with US regulations, Citroën don't even bother to try anymore.
That C2 should be very cheap to tax and run (IIRC the tax is Ł0.00) Daughter had a C3 that ran on diesel fumes.
I own a 1998 Toyota Corolla, but I put literally 10 miles a week on it, since I commute to work via bus and rail, and we use artifex's car on the weekends.

Myglaren - that second picture has got to be one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen, and I've seen the Pontiac Aztek and the AMC Eagle. It looks like something an enterprising young communist welded together from scrap parts in a junk yard.

If I'd buy a car right now I think Citroen would be among my preferred brands.
Tercels do seem to last forever. I bought a new one in '93 and drove it for 11 years before selling it, and only had to replace the water pump. The last I heard its still on the road though it has a little trouble with steep grades.

I'm rocking the old Nissan Micra. Mine is more scratched and dented than this one.
In the interests of being able to handle remote roads in mountainous Java, with a whole carload full of happy trekkers (or just my son's friends), we drive the diesel version of this monstrosity, in this color:
I'm happy with it, because we've used it exactly as we had hoped to - it's taken us to great hiking destinations, enabled my son to go on fun excursions with other kids, and I've been able to take carless friends to places they wouldn't make it to otherwise.
But sometimes I do feel like an idiot with a car that size. And it has the shock absorbers of an old truck - I'm not prone to motion sickness at all, but I've felt a bit green on rough roads in that vehicle.
Well, mine may not be the fastest or the biggest, but it's certainly the cutest!

True enough. But with whom would you swap vehicles, if you had to? Personally I'm eyeing Queen Tonya or Sarafeena's wheels. Or maybe Queen of Hearts. Function over form, I say. At least for transport.
For looks, it would be either Zuul's or Taumpy's, but for comfort, practicality and versatility, it'd be one of the Queen's cars, with the edge going to Queen of Hearts.

'03 silver Ford Focus ZX3 (the zippy 2.3L one). 140k miles, I just dropped a new clutch/flywheel in. Otherwise, the Cosmic Rollerskate still lives! Nowadays it just gets me to the train station and the hubs to the Courthouse, but the CS nobly carried me 170 miles a day to undergrad for a few years.
I'm sorta pissed Ford stopped making the ZX3, I'd buy a new one in a heartbeat. I loves me some hatchbacks. I just wish that now they'd make the RS for the American market. Fuck yeah.

'95 Ford Thunderbird LX I bought it 3 years ago with only 75,000 miles on it. I've only put 5,000 on it in 3 years and 3,000 of those where in one trip to Colorado.
No adults can fit in back and the Pit Bull in the passenger seat discourages everyone else. Except for jali I kick Chuck out for her.
