Default Scam of the Century! Daughter into cooking, I eat better!

    SCORE ONE FOR OLIVELOAF!

We've been watching cooking shows as a family for about a year now.
Last month, my almost 10-year old decided to start cooking herself.

    So...

My wife and her have begun setting up meal plans, shopping together, and cooking FREAKING awesome meals!

    Score!

Last night my kid made us:

Spinach salad with roaster corn and tomatoes with
    chipotle-mayo dressing

    Creamy potato soup

    Awesome!

I asked about bread last night, and my kid informed me that
the potato soup was sufficiently starchy, and that additional
    starches would be overkill.

Some sort of morel and shallot pizza thing on tap for tomorrow.

If only I could interest her in lawn care.

You're a lucky man! Let's hope she keeps it up through her teen years, because feeding teenagers isn't fun. Having them feed themselves and you? It's like a parent's dream come true.

    Bigger Scam!

My wife and kid played Iron Chef last Saturday.

I picked three secret ingredients, and they had two hours to come up with at least one dish each.

    Ingredients:

    Cream
    Hungarian green peppers
    Sun-dried tomatoes.

My wife made potato pancakes with creamy leek sauce, and my kid my her own version of penne arribita.

    The winner?

    Me!

You may have awakened a true culinary star. My children very reluctantly helped in the kitchen and scattered as soon as my back was turned so a 10 year old who enjoys cooking is a miracle! You really are a winner!

I was soooo proud of my soup (another thread) and I see that your little girl made a potato soup as well as an awesome salad.

When is she coming to Georgia to visit Auntie jali?

    Wow! That is truly fantastic.

My 11-year-old son is intermittently fascinated by cooking, but fears vegetables. He asked me to teach him how to make filled cookies the other day, so we found a recipe and they turned out delicious. Not exactly healthy, though.
