    Default What's your ringtone?

Right now I'm using the jazzy ending tune from the Jeeves & Wooster TV show. My phone vibrates first, so I don't get to hear the song unless my phone rings when it's in my purse.

Before this I was using the Linus & Lucy theme. I'm not really a fan of jazz, but it seems to work well for a ringtone.

My husband uses the Wallace & Gromit theme, which I also like.

At the moment it's Train in Vain. I wanted Lost in the Supermarket, but it wasn't available from AT&T, and my phone is occasionally pissy about imported ring tones.

For DH, it's the operatic version of "Spider Pig" from the Simpsons movie.

For calls with caller ID, "Tom Sawyer" by Rush.

For calls without caller ID, "Lights" by Journey.

Then some friends have their own - "London Calling" for the Clash fan, a Monty Python Scottish bit for a friend from my Scottish group, stuff like that.

    That's awesome.

I don't have a ringtone, I keep my phone on vibrate. I tend to listen to really loud music most of my waking hours and I miss calls if it's on an audio setting. I miss a lot of calls on vibrate too, since my car stereo can make it feel like my legs are set to vibrate, but that's what a bluetooth enabled phone is for.

However for those times that it's a better idea to have the phone on an audible setting I have a portion of Iron Maiden's Losfer Words (Big Orra) or the opening from Megadeth's Holy Wars.

Theoretically, the chorus of by Dune. ("I was sent to outer space to find another happy place; now, I'm left here, all alone, million miles from home.") However, I never turn my phone's ringer on. I just use the vibrate setting.

It's also my alarm to get up in the morning, though. I also have by Aqua ("Doctor Jones, Jones, wake up now!") as an alarm, which is both appropriate and hilarious, but it's way too potentially embarrassing if it goes off at the wrong time.

ETA: It's also a huge inconvenience to put extra ringtones on the iPhone without paying for them, so I haven't done it in a very long time. I only have five.

I have Big Yellow Taxi set as my default ring, and Brown-Eyed Girl and Pachebel's Canon assigned to certain people, but I have my phone set to vibrate nearly all the time.
I'm thinking it was a waste to buy them. If I buy a new phone sometime, I doubt I'll even download any extra ringers.
I'm not good at the advice. Can I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

My general ringtone is "The Office" theme song.

I have a friend who drives me batshit by calling me at all hours of night needing advice that she never plans on taking to put back together her miserable life. She has a special ringtone- Crazy by Gnarls Barkley, as a warning to simply press my silence button to avoid a migraine.

Same here, although it's probably on only a couple of hours a day, if I bother to turn it on at all.

I talk on the phone all day for work. Wanna call me? Call my home number (screened through answering machine), or better yet, send me an e-mail.

I keep three in rotation and switch them around as the mood strikes - right now it's either William Shatner screaming for Mr. Tambourine Man or the NEScover version of "The Final Coundown". The third is the intro to Heroes (Bowie, not Nickelback).

Standard Verizon ringtone. I have a Verizon-crippled RaZR V3m and have tried many diff ways to put my music/tones on it through various software, patchcords and mini-sd disk, but all have failed. And I won't buy a monthly service to be able to buy a ringtone that I already own.

I bounced around a few different, but standard issue, ringtones for a while, but I have come to the realization that, in the construction industry, I never hear the phone ring, so I've just had it set to vibrate for the last few years. And shoved down my pants. (I wish someone would call me...)

Considering I was legally obligated to answer the phone for them a reasonable percentage of the time I felt that the least I could do was let myself know if I was getting "stupid" or "mean".

Not so much of a problem anymore, though.

My phone takes any uploaded MP3 and uses it as a ringtone, so right now I've got the opening section of Rammstein's "Moskau" (the bit where the girl goes '??? ????? ? ????? ???????? ?????? ? ????. ??????!' trans: 'This is song about the most beautiful city in the world. Moscow!').
