Default The UK Christmas No.1 Single.

And this year looks like being a close run thing between that last X-Factor winner and a group of people dedicated to telling the Simon Cowell pop machine to get stuffed.

Their choice of song: Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name

Of course, the X factor single gets released as a Single CD tomorrow which will result in huge sales anyway and settle the matter, but still, this could be the most amusing Xmas since Iron Maiden and Bring your Daughter.

According to the news this morning RATM have got to no. 1.

The guitarist thanked all involved in the facebook campaign for their support for real music.

Not my favourite song ever, but it beats all this X Factor crap we've had for the last few years and all the R n' B shite that we are constantly bombarded with.

Apparently they have been donating royalties to Shelter as part of it.

Of course, someone pointed out that 500,000 people did exactly what the facebook organisers told them to do, but it is still preferable to the latest Simon Cowell offering.

Sony must be laughing their heads off as they had 950,000 singles legally sold in a week from both artists. The only problem will be what happens next year.

It is kinda lame that getting a nearly 20 year old song to the top of the charts is somehow considered subversive. All those punks died in vain in the '70s.
