Default Monday Wut Wut: Winding down

It's that time of the year when everyone relaxes, well everyone in the office has, and most things are, well not quite on go slow, but easy go.

The important projects, the things that have to be done are still being done. But people are wistfully looking forwards to the Christmas break and the little things, the unimportant things, are slowly being sidelined ready to be picked up next year. That's where the New Year's resolution will come in, but that's for another time.

Several people have already gone on holiday and are no doubt enjoying themselves, with the packed shops full of manic buyers trying to get those last few gifts. The grey weather, the cold and rain making it unpalatable to head out. The kids released from school, now kicking around and bored, by being forced to wait until the appointed day for their presents.

Then again, more people off work means quieter trains and more seats, the festive mood meaning people are happier. Somehow, the office doesn't seem that bad after all. Time to relax, some more.
In the land of the blind, the one-arm man is king.

I don't mnd my work being quiet now, right before the holidays. It's been bizarrely quiet for months though, it's a strange sensation, and I hope things start to get back to relative normal in January.

It sounds downright soothing when you put it that way. Since I work from home, there's no great impact on my daily life by more people working less. My sister, her kids, and my brother will all be coming up here later this week. My step-father has already arrived for Christmas. Between my niece, my mother, and myself, we'll in theory be able to spread everyone out across three buildings enough that everyone will have a bed. It's a funny thing in that I really do look forward to visiting with my family, but arranging these holiday visits can be so incredibly stressful.

And whether it's the weather or the stress, my migraines are acting up again. I ended up going to bed at eight in the evening last night because of it.

Here's hoping once everyone's here and settled this visit won't be quite the herculean feat it feels like now.
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.
