Never fear, there's an iPhone app for that and soon to be one for Google Android.

Surrey police are launching their new tracking tool, so you can see where all their officers are in the neighbourhood. Now, you need never wonder why there isn't one around when you need one.

I can see so many useful applications for this, including a mod which will take the data and let you know if there is one within a mile or so and of it is safe to go and try that open window.
