    Default Athletes/Teams that mesmerize you.

I was surfing around today, and saw that the NBA channel is showing one of the Finals games from 1996: Seattle vs. Chicago. I flipped it on, and there are MJ, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and crew. Can't take my eyes off of this game, even though it occurred 15 years ago.

I could watch films of Walter Payton running the football all day long.

What athletes or teams keep you captivated?

Nothing since the last time I watched Sandberg turn a double.

I will say, though, that the Bulls were a lot of fun to watch this year.

    * Walter Payton is one of mine.

    * Lawrence Taylor was absolutely super human.

    * Honestly Mo Rivera is so good it is sick. No one should be the best there ever was at a job in sports and still be the best at age 41.

    * Younger Derek Jeter was extremely compelling. He is still good, but not the player of even a few years ago. He just played the game so right, all the time and every time.

Cal Ripken. Even in his younger playing days, he was never the quickest shortstop on his feet - at 6'5" and 225, how could he be? - but made up for it with amazing fundamentals and anticipation.

Early Mike Tyson. So much more than the sloppy brawler he would become, Mike through his first 20-25 fights was the perfect peek-a-boo boxer. Nobody could hit him cleanly, he came back with bombs, and some very good boxers were made to look silly. He was a thing of beauty.

Wayne Gretzky. Still the prettiest skater in NHL history.

Young Muhammad Ali: Before rope-a-dope, before the past his prime fighter who got decisions because of his name, that was an amazing fighter -- a heavyweight who danced like a featherweight, and who flicked him punches out at will.

Brooks Robinson: Still my epitome of what a third baseman should be.

Mary Lou Retton. Her precision was amazing.

The Williams sisters. I don't even care much for tennis, but they are like a pair of magnificent ebony goddesses.
