Undercover Officer switches sides causing mistrial
An officer who is undercover with environmental protest groups has appeared to switch sides causing a major trial to be abandoned after the officer said he was prepared to give testimony for the defence.
Apparently he was undercover with the groups for 10 years and it appears he has gone native.

That is ...odd.
One of the comments on the article pretty much reflects my thoughts:
A bog-standard Police Officer spent TEN YEARS undercover with a group of environmental activists. Are we supposed to be stupid - who was really running him - and why has he been *turned* now? The Police have some explaining to do. He was practically running some of their activities according to this piece.
This is very odd. That sounds less "undercover" and more "sleeper agent with no end game."
