    Default A very mysterious death

Here's the CNN story on a former Pentagon official whose body was found in a dumpster and whose death is being called a homicide. The details so far are bizarre - in the hours before his death he was captured on video camera and seen by witnesses wandering around in a dazed state.

I find this story very chilling and also intriguing. My heart goes out to his family - his loved ones must be in a special kind of torment right now. I hope the authorities eventually piece together what happened.

That is both disturbing and fascinating. The fact that he was a former Pentagon official and had been acting so strangely before his death really just begs for some sort of explanation involving intrigue and drugging, though it may have been something as simple as early onset Alzheimer's and getting mugged.
So now they are just dirt-covered English people in fur pelts with credit cards.

God, how awful. I can't imagine the terror of wandering around in confusion like that. I don't necessarily blame those who saw him in that state for his death, but I am bothered by the fact that they didn't help him.

Well, the article does say that he refused several offers of help - still, they could have called the authorities.

I suspect the answer, if it is ever really known, will indeed be something mundane like "accidentally took the wrong pills and had a bad reaction including getting confused, wandered off and got mugged." But meanwhile, one can't help but wonder if something more bizarre and nefarious is at play. It's like the prologue to a great suspense novel.

The thought of him walking around dazed, repeating "I'm not drunk, I'm not drunk" suggests a level of self-awareness about the fact he was in a confused state. Sad.
