A recent University of Washington graduate has developed a prosthetic tentacle to replace amputated arms. And, frankly, it's awesome.
Instead of trying to mimic the look of a human hand, it's a different limb entirely and serves as a sort of tentacle-assistant to the other arm.

It reminds me of the sprinter with the blade legs. It doesn't look like what nature provides, but gives a whole new kind of functionality.
