Operation Dark Heart is the expose of how the USA could have won the war aganist the Taliban and didn't due to interference from the top brass in the military.
It has already been passed by the DoD and was due to be printed. However, once the Pentagon saw it they were less than pleased. They are saying that it contains too much sensitive information and could seriously damage national security.
So, instead of trying to keep it quiet, they put a block on the author speaking out and then requested to but all the copies to pulp them. Thus, giving the book more publicity than it could wish for.
The question is not whether it contains sensitive information, but just how bad it makes the US military look.
