Default The BNP has changed its constitution.

Under pressure from the Equalities act the BNP has amended its constitution from being an all-white party to one that will accept members of any race/creed or colour.

This is not necessarily a good thing.

There are a lot of people who see the BNP as a way at getting back at the Labour party and the various immigration issues that have begun to occupy the country.

Since the news reports a couple of weeks ago showed that Labour allowed mass-immigration as a way of social engineering (the majority of them will vote Labour) , this has only increased tensions in some areas.

I predict that people will join it, even if not "white" on the grounds of seeing themselves as British, or as when they turned up as immigrants, they tried to fit in and be British.

It will be interesting to see what the political landsape looks like at the next general election seeing as the BMP have already gained councillers and MEPs.
In the land of the blind, the one-arm man is king.

The British National Party (BNP) is a far-right political party formed from a splinter group of the National Front by John Tyndall in 1982
Parties with platforms like this always have a decent chance of picking up support, especially when the economy is bad. I think you are right they will pick up more seats. Just think how easily BNP can shift the National to Nazi if they really gain momentum.

While Labour's policies are foolish and dangerous. The BNP is just plain scary.

The BNP always seems to me like the Bogie Man party. They don't garner all that many votes and when they try to engage the mainstream they come across terribly. I know there is always a fear of the slippery slope towards them getting real power but I just don't see it happening. In the 2005 General Election in the UK they got less than 1% of the vote. They did better in the 2009 European elections but I always get the impression people don't take those elections that seriously. Minority, and minor interest parties here (such as the Socialist Party) get a disproportionate amount of the votes in European elections. It just seems that voters use it primarily to protest the status quo or turn out is so low that a well organised small party can do well. The next general election will be interesting to see as in 2005 Britain's economy was stronger so perhaps they'll make real in-roads. However, the only way they could ever muster any real power would be if they were in a coalition and I don't think all but the lunatic fringe of the Conservative Party would go near them with a barge pole. Having said that, politics does, as the old cliché goes, make strange bedfellows, and maybe if there were no other choice in getting to power, Cameron or a successor would countenance such a deal with the devil.
