Wanna cuddle?
My horses don't wear shoes. Partly because I think it's better for them, partly because I don't do anything with them that requires them to wear shoes, partly because it's rare to find shoes in Mini sizes.
A lot of horses do really well without shoes and I think they're over-used as a matter of tradition. A lot of sporting events and breed clubs require horses to be shod even if there's no good reason. A lot of people shoe their horses because, duh, that's just what you do. I'd really love to see more people consider barefoot as an alternative, but I don't think shoes are the devil. Usually.
