Geez, Diana, I'd have killed to have had hair like that in the '80's. I never could manage big hair.

I still have a hard time managing small hair. I was in high school at the right time, because my hair just naturally wants to be big. My hair was super-thick and wavy back then, but oddly it didn't get curly until I got pregnant with my daughter, and then it just never un-curled.

ETA Paul, those pictures are great! And jali, vodka is an excellent preservative.

Here’s some one of my favorite self-portraits, although technically they shouldn’t be considered true “self portraits.” They’re pictures of me playing movie roles. The series was created to copy Cindy Sherman’s series of “untitled film stills,” in which she is the subject, but is never herself. The first one is my favorite.

My most recent self-portrait is from November in Lisbon, in a pretty cool-looking section of town. I had just come back from a rainy walk along the Atlantic, and was craving a yummy döner kebab.

Here I am a few years ago in Beijing, spending several minutes trying to take a decent self-portrait in front of the Forbidden City. The rest of my group was waiting for me near the entrance, so I had to give up and settle for this closed-eyes shot. Though I think the shot turned out pretty well for the guy in the white shirt on the right. I bet it's one of the best photos ever taken of him, but sadly, there is a 99.99% chance he will never see it.

I've never been in a city with air as crisp as in Zurich. Seriously, the word "crisp" was on my mind my entire time there. I think this is well conveyed by the expression on my face.
