Mellophant Trivia Quiz Main Thread.
Okay, after a delay I am ready to begin the First (and potentially last :D ) Mellophant Trivia Quiz. We have 22 contestants and there will be 10 rounds.
How we play.
I will post a set of 22 questions for each round. Each question will initially be offered to a single competitor. For example, a question might read "1a An Gadaí - What is the capital city of France?"
The named contestant has 24hrs in which to answer the question or say they don't know the answer. If they are incorrect, don't know the answer, or haven't posted within 24hrs of the question being asked I shall open up the question to other competitors and the first correct answer wins. Please do not attempt to answer another poster's question until I have posted the OK to do so.
In the case of you getting your addressed question correct you receive 10 points, if you get another poster's question correct you receive 5 points.
After 10 rounds the poster with the highest number of points wins the game. If at the end of round 10 we have a tie there will be a three question sudden death, each of the final contestants will receive three questions and the one who gets more right wins. If they all get the three questions correct, or incorrect, supplementary questions can be asked.
There is to be no googling. I can't stop anybody googling an answer but if you do it then you're an asshole, beneath my contempt.
The first round will be posted at (approx.) 5pm EST (10pm GMT) today. I will post each round at (approx.) that same time every day for the next 10 days. In the case of unforeseen circumstance where I can't post at that time I shall try to get Peps, Skaldy or some other non-contestant to post the questions at that time.
Rounds will include a geography round, a literature round, a music round, a film round, a specialist topic round (for my sins!), and several general knowledge rounds.
Thanks to all participants and to question helpers Peps and Skaldy. I hope I have explained everything clearly, if anyone has any questions on the rule please post. I hope everyone has fun.
The winner gets a prize. If I'm feeling generous the second placed winner might also get a prize. :)
