Ah, that explains it....I've only seen part of The Shawshank Redemption (but it's in my Netflix queue).
It's probably in my top 10 movies of all time. Seriously, it's that good. It got overlooked at the cinema (by all), but it's made a huge impression in DVD/cable TV. It's a truly wonderful film.Quote:

Interestingly, it was up for a slew of Oscar nominations, but it didn't win any. That was the year of Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction, so hard competition. But I think the noms probably gave it the exposure for video/DVD, where it's (rightly so) become a big hit.
It's heartening to see people appreciate a film that many interpret as a Christian parable.
