Rook, G2 to G4.
Please update the chart.
Lieutenant, tactical display is on your screen. Black King's position is nominal.

Thanks!
Pawn, A2 to A4.
Pawn, B3 to B4.
Pawn, A4 to A5.
I won't try to make the capture.
Pawn, A5 to A6.
Pawn, A6 to A7.
If I get a Queen, do you announce that to all?
No, there is no announcement. Assuming you move a7 to a8 next turn, specify which piece you wish to promote to.
Thanks. Gotta go for a Queen!
I will be out of town from Wednesday afternoon through late Friday and may not have Internet access (or much time). May we take a hiatus until then?
Pawn, A7 to A8. Woohoo!
Knight, E3 to F1.
If that wouldn't kill the piece that just put my King in check, King, D3 to C2.
Nf1 cannot be right - the check is on the longer of the diagonal running through d3, i.e. the b1 - h7 diagonal. Since you have a pawn on e4, you must be in check from a piece on c2 or b1.
Kc2 is illegal - you are either moving into another check there, or not moving out of the existing one.
Thanks.
King, D3 to C3. Failing that, King, D3 to C4.
Kc3 is valid.
I am much obliged to you, sir.
King, C3 to B2.
That is not legal (from context, an enemy piece is guarding that square).
King, C3 to B3.
Please update the chart. I thought my knight would still be blocking any attack along the rank.

Black King's position is nominal, as before (editor will not allow me to show it on e8 as that would be illegal with White to move and your Queen on a8). Your Knight guarantees that you cannot be checked from e3 thru h3; nevertheless you are indeed in check along rank 3.
Oh, I see. Thanks.
King, B3 to C4.
Failing that, King, B3 to C2.
And failing that, King, B3 to A4.
Was I able to do: King, B3 to C4?
If so, Queen, A8 to A3.
(Aside: Yes, you were, or there would have been a "You may not" in the game thread.)
Crap. This is what I get for playing too late at night.
Knight, E3 to C2.
Just not my game.
King, C4 to D3.
Kc4-d3 is not legal. You must try another move.
King, C4 to D5.
d5 has one of your own pawns on it, which you can see in character, so I'll discount that as an attempt. The Queen and Knight have disappeared from the previous diagram and your King is on c4. Can I suggest you give me a list of attempted moves and I'll try them in order - if you are in trouble getting out of check, your opponent is entitled to know.
No, I'll just throw in the towel. Thanks for serving as our interlocutor.
