Has she seen snow? And if not, would you be willing to make a trip so she could see it, and then video tape her reaction to it?
I've got a couch and a big backyard!
just don't forget the video camera.
Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?
I have! I've gotten my dad, my step-mom, and half the "I'm sending all your December gifts in one package to save on postage" gift for my BFF! My mom and her side of the family are getting gift cards, since I love them and respect their frugality too much to waste postage, but those can be picked up next paycheck.
So, I let the dogs out for roughly thirty minutes this morning, and when I went to feed them, Simple Dog had already managed to haul tail across the street. Then, she came running back to the gate she'd tunneled under and looked at it with much confusion, as if to say "How did I get to this side? How do I get back?" I'm highly annoyed at her right now.
When she looks in your eyes and whimpers, I have a feeling you'll forgive her.
Already have. She came bounding around to the gate when I got home from school this evening, and I got out of the car to praise her for being "such a good backyard girl!"
How does Simple Dog do outside nowadays - is it very cold there? It's going to be 30 degrees F here for the next few days. Winter is well and truly upon us here in NE Ohio.
It's dipping into the low thirties tonight, but it'll be back up into the fifties tomorrow, so Simple Dog and her companion are cheating and sleeping on the couch. I'm pretending I don't see them, since I don't want them rattling around my room while I try to sleep. She got out Saturday morning, which sucked a lot, but she's been good since then, as far as I can tell. Part of me thinks she's trying to run away from the cold, or she's decided that she gets to be Inside Dog if she comes in the front door. I'm...not sure.
Holy crap! It's twenty-eight degrees outside!
Hope you're staying warm. It's 22 degrees here right at the moment, but at least it hasn't been windy. Yet.
So far, so good. Simple Dog and Sam are on the couch and the heat's going. I have one pair of flannel jammies left (the others have disintegrated), and that's another thing I really want for Christmas!
I've gotten in the habit of sleeping in sweatpants, a sweatshirt and wool socks in the coldest times of winter. Keeps me nice and toasty.
That does sound good, except I couldn't sleep with my feet constricted like that. I know. I'm weird. :P
Fahrenheit. I joked to somebody that I moved south to avoid this kind of weather, and she said, "We'll make up for it this summer. Don't worry."
So, as one of the top tech people in the store, I have been gifted with...a book! It's an ARC of some new teen fantasy/romance series that's about to come out, and I'm never scheduled to work in the kids' or teens' sections, so management apparently passed it off to me strictly because the letter from corporate (not the publisher, but our B&N kids' buyer) said it was amazing.
I think I'm kinda flattered that they thought of me. :)
Let us know how you like it, when appropriate to do so! :)
I'm only about half done with The Secret Diary of Elizabeth Tudor Vampire Slayer (which is pretty good so far), but I'll let you know.
I'm about a hundred pages into Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell, which reads somewhat like if Jane Austen wrote a Harry Potter book. So far it's great!
That's an interesting description! Personally, I think one of my issues with Jane Austen was the language, so I'm not sure I'd enjoy that one. I do love some modern fantasy, though.
Oh, it definitely reads like Austen. If you don't enjoy the ritualistic social customs, very precise language and thinly-veiled drawing room hostility of Regency England, you wouldn't like this.
Good to know! I tend to avoid the precise language and the Regency social customs. It just all tends to run together for me after a while.
Randomly, even all my years working in the service industries haven't dampened my Christmas spirit.
So, what would it take to dampen your Christmas spirit? A septic leak?
I'm not sure!
We may have to start referring to my Simple Dog as Houdoggi. Last night, she managed to break a harness, dig a hole, and get down the street in the time it took me to watch two YouTube song performances (and, they weren't long songs, as Zuul can tell you). Today, I was horrible and cruel and left her in a cage for eight hours so that I could be assured that she'd still be alive when I got home. I felt especially bad when she went running across the yard to find an appropriate place to relieve herself. :( She seems to have forgiven me, though she also seems to hate the new (thicker) harness I got for her.
I am posting from my Nook Color.
FROM MY BED!!!
Hi! I'm drunk!
Hi Drunk! What did you do with Marsilia? :D
Fed her wine! Woooooooo!
How much wine? And was it the good stuff? (We need to know these things for later.)
Maybe, four glasses, and it's thisstuff that starts with an M that I'm too lazy to get up and look at the spelling for.
Was there a special reason for the drinking? Or just because?
It is the future bro's birthday!
It would be lovely if I could chat from my Nook, but I can't. :(
Ahh... but can you order a pizza from your Nook?
Probably! I haven't tried.
I am bored!

ETA: Okay, that looks funky. I wonder why the tail?
You are a strange, strange man, Loki.
Yup. :D
How do you like your crawdads?
My sushi place does a crawfish roll that's to die for. I'm also a big fan of seafood gumbo. Gotta find a new place to get it, though. Might try the Blowfly.
Am I just being squeamish to think that "The Blowfly" leaves something to be desired on the scale of appetizing names for a resturant?
Yes. It's cute and folksy, darnit! It's also right on the waterfront. Really picturesque.
