Hi all, sorry for the radio silence, I just got back from Mallorca at 3am. I took my laptop so I could keep updated but didn't take the charger >.< *doh*

Just for info, Eluned has no sodding clue whatsoever about this group yet. I didn't want to tread on your internal thoughts, choie, but just try to look at the interaction as an outsider. You are being shady and Walker is being a d*** - as far as she can tell from what she's seen :D I just didn't want you to think I was metagaming it or somehow seeing into your thoughts.
Ping,
No worries about radio silence (I speak as a chap who has fallen out of a Vegas bed!)
I'll be moving things along this afternoon - it's interesting how the party seem to be rather wary of each other!
No worries on my end either, Eluned. We do clearly have a very intuitive team, heh, but I don't think anything Eluned calculated was beyond the scope of what a sensitive person would've picked up from the dynamic between Walker and Aislinn, not to mention Aislinn's ditzy behavior. Thank you though!
Jareen, I should explain that I'm still using just Edition 1 of AD+D - so the Tarrasque does not feature in Monster Manual 1!
I'd like to ask the party for their preference.
There's going to be a crime (within an Arthurian Keep!) and the party will be invited to solve it.
Now this outrage follows the usual procedure:
- give the party a report of the crime (easy for me to do)
- party gather information by interviewing witnesses + looking for clues
- party form theory of crime and check alibis, gather further evidence etc.
- party solve crime!
If this were face-to-face, I would simply give the players the report and let them discuss who to interview and in what order etc.
However the Internet is rather clumsy for this method.
So I ask you to decide if you would like to do all the investigating yourselves or have me give you all the initial witness statements.
We do that sorta thing all the time in my other online game. But I think that group posts more often so it doesn't feel clumsy or anything. Can we interview each by splitting up?
I think it would be fun to be given a list of people to interview/places to search and then split up and have an individual chat/search of each individually, then meet back up as a group to discuss what we've found (or not, as the case may be).
**DO** we have a group name??? I feel that maybe there was one before I arrived in person but was there while Walker was an NPC, but now we're a new-formed group, and at least two of us have some renown now for slaying a dragon. I don't know if we would take on a group name :D
Hmm, no, I don't think we do have a name (other than the official Scouts Guild one). Or if we did we never (or rarely) used it.
Well, I don't think it should be my choice, considering that my other group's name in Acquisitions Inc. ended up as "The Bumblef*cks". We have business cards and slogans and all sorts. :D
"When you need something doing and you don't care how it's done. B.F."
1. Thanks for your investigation preference - I'm happy to give a list all all witnesses and places to search. (It will all take place in the Keep, so the party will not be far away from each other.)
2. You are welcome to come up with an informal group name (some quality, please!) - however as far as Count Percival is concerned you are a delegation from the Drannasmor Scout Guild (with Walker being an honorary member / local guide.)
As the crime may prove a little detailed, I think I will start another thread devoted to all the evidence, witnesses etc.
That will make it much easier for the party to reference relevant information.
Here is your crime dossier thread:
http://www.mellophant.com/forums/sho...048#post348048
Thank you! It's very convenient and easier to read, so a little potential spoilage (if, say, you include a post from the game thread that none of us realized even had a clue in it!) is worth having such a useful and generously provided resource!
I think I've already sussed one element of the crime-to-be.
Thanks for your patience - I'm having a week of birthday celebrations!
:) Happy birthday -- a gleeful birthday, as it were!
Enjoy it :D
Also sorry if I hold up the rp. I am in the training part of my new job, and after I get home I am often too tired to do anything else but lay in bed.
Jareen, no problem. Life comes first!
Thanks for your patience - I'm keen to resume posting (should be later today.)
To interest you about the forthcoming crime, I enjoy (and may use to create the plot):
- Agatha Christie
- Arthur Conan Doyle
- Columbo
- Derren Brown
- Penn and Teller
- Rex Stout
Hoping to hear from ping, then the crime stuff will commence!
Just heard from ping - she's just been jolly busy recently, but is looking forward to posting!
Sorry guys, as Glee said, been really busy. Just back from Dover where I watched my father-in-law flying a Spitfire in formation with another Spitfire and a Hurricane over the White Cliffs. :)
If anyone is interested, here are the two Spits taking off together :) The Hurricane took off before them, I think because it is slower, so they would have caught up. Husband's dad is in the back seat of the closest one. I think there are only about five 2-seaters left, and I was lucky enough to be back-seat in one of the ones here flying out of Duxford a few years back. Not as good as flying over the white cliffs of Dover, but still an utterly awesome (and beautiful) machine to fly.

I visited Duxford Air Museum and sat in the cockpit of a WW2 Vulcan Bomber (jolly cramped!)
I have a virtual flight booked in the Vulcan in October It is a full surround-VR set-up, I did one once in a 747 and it was incredibly realistic and felt like flying a real plane in terms of physical feedback. Chris (husband) has had a taxi ride in "Just Jane" (the working-but-not-flying Lancaster) and both myself and his father have flown Spitfires, so we're not doing too badly!! I've also done wingwalking and both husband and myself have flown in Tiger Moths :D At the moment we are spending the nice weather falling out of planes mainly...
[edit] Also, random geeky fact, the Vulcan bomber flew only **11 years** after the Lancaster.
Reference pics for people who don't know what I'm blathering on about. Both same manufacturers, 11 years apart; Vulcan long-range bomber with its signature delta-wing shape, known for flying all the way to the Falklands, and the absolutely beautiful (well, they both are...) Lancaster, known for the Battle of Britain and having an absolutely AMAZING sounds with her engines running*:

(*Ok, they both sound awesome with engines running. Tip: don't stand behind the Vulcan when she's taking off. %^&* that was some noise and wind!! Also could do near-vertical ascents and I'm going to stop there because otherwise I'm going to cry. RIP beautiful plane :'( )

OK, I'm happily preparing to start giving the party evidence of a crime.
Just two minor clarifications for Lydia:
- she's already on the battlements, so only has to run around the top pf the Keep to reach the Ballista crew
- she only uses two Hand Axes (melee) and a Short Bow (missiles) ... so no Great Axe!
Please bear with me - I want to publish a response to each player simultaneously as the situation is rather 'time critical'. (wink)
I hope everything makes sense (as I'm giving a lot of information!)
I repeat the maps for your convenience:
Versifal’s Keep (ground) https://btcloud.bt.com/web/app/share/invite/IbZx8W5sP1
Versifal’s Keep (battlements) https://btcloud.bt.com/web/app/share/invite/Op13RIJCLR
The battlements link isn't working, it says image deleted. I can only see the main Keep map that we had before. (Top link)
Thanks for alerting me about the link - for some reason some map links have stopped working. I'll try to reset them today...
I'm hopeful both Keep (ground) and Keep (battlements) are now working
I'm having some (hopefully mild!) computer problems - but will move the story along once they are resolved.
I also intend to put up a map showing the area from East side of the Keep to the forest...
Thanks glee! Sorry about the tech issues.

OK, Sheriffs - have at it!
I hope the maps of the Keep (ground and battlements), plus the area of the disappearance are clear. (If not, let me know and I'll e-mail them out...)
Feel free to use this thread for any player discussions as necessary, plus any game questions for me to answer.
Sheriffs,
I'm thinking that it's jolly hard for you to solve a crime when you have to wade through lots of posts.
So I plan to delete all the previous posts in the 'Sherwoodshire Crime Dossier' thread and replace them with short, helpful statements (as you discover those facts.)
For example:
- the dogs in kennels near the stables will bark when a stranger enters
- Argent Blaze can only be ridden by (give list)
Please let me know here if you don't want this!
Sorry I've been quiet lately; busy time at work. As for the list, I think it'd be very helpful, thanks glee!
I'm dramatically simplifying the Sherwoodshire Crime Dossier thread. (It's going to be more like a computer game where things are laid out in a straightforward way!)
As the party discover more information, I will add it to the thread.
Also sorry for being a bit quiet, it seems that recovering from a physical injury actually saps your mental ability as well! I've been useless all week aside from doing councilloring stuff then limping home and sleeping!
Ping,
No need to apologise - it's important to recover properly.
Choie has investigated jolly well and I'm happy to give yourself and Jareen time to join in.
I am assuming that Walker would have been alongside Aislinn and Lydia, and therefore could he have an Alertness roll as well to see if he notices Violet being "off"? I made a post but thinking on it, I'll edit it if he's completely unaware of what the others picked up on, or if he picked up on something else.
Let me explain - different classes get different proficiencies (and the ones I've chosen for each of you should all prove useful at some point. ;) )
Now all Scouts get Alertness, which involves studying humanoid behavior (e.g. a suspect or a patrolling guard.)
As a Ranger, Walker gets Firebuilding and Fishing (both useful in the wilderness) and I have also given him Herbalism, Rock Climbing and Flute.
Rangers also get tracking.
So Walker would not have had anything to pick up on the dodgy-ness around Violet and the stable?
Correct, Walker's skills lie elsewhere...
In that case, not picking up anything other than general vibes from his fellow party members (they're both raising eyebrows and I can't miss that), Eye would just be doing a general sweep of the stables while Walker half-listens to the conversation but is focussed on using Eye's keen vision to look for visible clues in the stalls. Firstly a quick overview of the other horses to see if anything looks like it's been tampered with, and then I would imagine more specifically on Argent Blaze's stall and those adjacent. Looking for anything dodgy really! If she/they spot something then Walker would walk(!) over to look more closely himself (unless Eye has better vision? OR he would use Tracking), but for now he has his ears on the conversation going on here and his eyes(!) with Eye (You really came up with some names here, GLee!) and will report to the party if they spot anything while the conversation/interrogation is going on. I assume Eye's circuit of the stables and then more detailed check wouldn't take too long in terms of the conversation ongoing, ie. she would be doing this while Lydia and Aislinn are having the conversation. Think of it as in-character Walker knows they've probably got the conversation side sorted, the druid's buggered off somewhere with her bear, so I might as well use some hawk-vision to check stuff out while keeping half an ear on the convo... out-of-character I wasn't here for all of the conversation/revelation posts, so just retcon it back to Walker doing this while they were talking :D
Hi from other account. Just to clarify for Eluned: she used a 2nd level spell to cast Goodberry to give one to the gnome. I'm not sure how many that leaves her with.
I don't have the stats for Denzil (you might have sent them, sorry if so!) so I don't know what tracking skills he might have, or what general skills a bear might lend to this haha.
Sorry about the delay - I've just had lots of friendly contacts recently*)
The party are doing jolly well investigating the crime and I hope to post the denouement soon...
*one pal sent me a cartoon showing a book publisher assessing 'Pride and Prejudice' and saying to the author "The story is excellent, Miss Austen - but all the swearing will have to go!"
As a 3rd level Druid, Eluned gets 8 Goodberries whenever she casts the spell. So after healing the gnome (see main thread), she has 7 left.
Thanks for suggesting the idea of a bear tracking - the manual says bears have an excellent sense of smell (but poor eyesight), so I'll give Denzil 70% for tracking.
N.B. he uses smelling to do this, whereas Walker uses physical signs to track (e.g. track marks, broken twigs...)
Also Walker's tracking abilities improve by +10% / level, whereas Denzil's ability stays the same.
That's brilliant, thanks. Do the Goodberries last a day?
However, your updated (from Eluned's perspective) has left all of Denzil, Eluned and Ping a little confused about events haha. I'm sure We'll figure it out. Or not. Seems like the guys in the keep have it covered.........
