But OMG, Collins is killing me. Graham does this whole big mea culpa and accepts responsibility and yadda yadda, and her response is basically, "yeah and?" Not any acknowledgment of his comments, not a "thank you," not a request to know what Palver said to chastize her underling... just "whatever, go on." Damn.
I gotta roleplay the whole distracted thing, right? I think I'm giving an Oscar worthy performance here

What I'm wondering is why she didn't ask Rangin or Delaney to report. Or why she herself didn't report. It's like she has no concept of sharing information except in one direction--from us to her. But, like Kylah, I am no longer surprised by anything Collins does or doesn't do.
I'd love to know Delaney's thoughts on all this; wasn't he the leader in the first mission?

Holy crap, it's only 8:00?! How slowly does time pass on this planet?
Starting at 6PM, Kylah met Jan for dinner, had a drink, then an appetizer, then they went out walking and made out, then they ended up at his place, Jan got changed, and then they had sex that was 'awesome', Kylah left and met the others, they had twenty minutes before their meeting in which she was able to take a long shower, they had their "debriefing" (or what Collins was pleased to call a debriefing, anyway), and disbanded.
Could all that really happen in just two hours? I mean, if we work backwards, even assuming the debriefing was like ten minutes long, that plus the twenty minutes delay means they all reached the station at 7:30. This means Kylah and Jan managed to have drinks, appetizer, walk, make out, Jan get changed into his clothes, then have sex, in only 90 minutes? Golly. Jan must think Kylah is the easiest gal in the star system.

Anytime between 2000 and 2200 is plausible to me, depending on how you judge the "filling in the gaps" between RPG action and quote-unquote real [game] life.
I would be happy with 21:00, happier still with 21:30, and positively orgasmic with 22:00.

Edited to add: I just envisioned a mission where all the NPCs rise up together to fight the PCs. Like, they're tired of being ghettoized and ignored and so they form a coalition to take out the PCs who get all the honor, promotions and storylines.

general, I misunderstood - I thought he just had a T-shirt (Starfleet regulation black) on underneath his uniform shirt. Why don't you each say in the game thread how your characters will be dressed. Starfleet uniform would meet the dress code at the nightclub; pants and a T-shirt would not.

I have no idea what Rangin's Psy score is, so I'm having to do it in game. Not to mention Rangin not seeing Kylah's walk of shame and no-one actually telling him what state she was in. He caught up to her in the dark and so saw not a lot. Of course, his trust in Kylah's professionalism means he is missing out on the most obvious answer.
Although both the Doctor and Graham did see a lot more and can probably put it together better than Rangin.
Graham's Psy score is neck and neck with rocks and trees, but he did see a lot more as CIAS points out.
It's "Psi," and you can find attribute scores for most of the PCs, except those who asked for them to be redacted, here: http://www.mellophant.com/forums/sho...acter-profiles. I don't have Rangin's sheet with the details right at hand, but IIRC his Psi score was no great shakes. T'Var definitely has the best of the three at the nightclub.

OMG I'm reading this whole exchange and cracking up. I don't even dare guess what Rangin is suggesting to Jan re: the precautions. Is he basically saying, "So does Kylah need a shot because you're riddled with STDs?" Poor Kylah, she would be absolutely mortified if she knew this conversation was going on.
Rangin is suggesting that in 9 months Jan is going to see Kylah on his doorstep with a very special surprise and a writ for child support.

For realsies. I have no idea exactly what Rangin's memories are implying, especially the one about him being so virtuous (and this mysterious woman from his past), but yowsa. Behind this mild-mannered, good-natured guy is a lot of angst. I look forward to someone, hopefully Kylah, opening him up and looking beyond his mask. And by the way, here's a bit of hilarious trivia: At the same point in this mission where Graham received the phone call about the crime -- post #1377 -- in the last mission, the crew had already fought the Sakathians, left the station and were in the shuttle headed for the Yorktown, where Rangin and Kylah were asking T'Var why she wasn't doing anything for comatose Fujishiro.
So we're a leeeetle behind schedule, heh. We've had so many personal digressions that our current mission is finally getting to the crisis point just when our last mission was basically over. :D
OTOH, we also have much more interesting character developments, so I think it's worth it!

thanks. I guess what I lack in volume of words is made up for in dialogue, both inward and outward. I've sort of always felt I could write a great script for a play or a TV show, but novels were out of my reach

Hsu must've thought Damn, either this is one sociopathic bunch or they must get murders all the time on that ship.

When Collins, T'Var and Delaney asked the receptionist, Wilson wasn't expected to be on duty until "tomorrow morning." I suppose that doesn't have to be inconsistent with Mrs. Hsu's comment that he usually worked until midnight, but it's one discrepency you might want to follow up on. None of the rest of us know that info* (unless you mentioned it to Rangin and Graham and I forgot) so it's up to y'all. :)

Wow, is Graham going out of his way to be a know-it-all, chauvinist schmuck? He's coming very close to Collins in being a chapeau de derriere. What exactly is wrong with asking Mrs. Hsu questions about Wilson's last known movements, or where he was expected to be, while Graham is busy being Mr. Tough Cop with Mr. Hsu? Thanks to those questions we already have one discrepency, noted above. Is ol' Booksie disconcerted by having a wee slip of a girl asking pertinent questions? And of course the amusing thing is that Kylah's skills will likely be of at least equal value to all his macho posturing.
As an aside, I would also give Collins thirty credits to bitchslap him and tell him "It's Lieutenant, gramps -- not L.T. LOO - TEN - ANT! Lietenant JG Collins if you're nasty. Got it?"
Graham's got a way he likes to handle situations like this. Of course, that's bumping up against the fact that now (a) he's not in command and (b) he's not on a 100% security or law enforcement assignment/team.Quote:

Oh yeah, then that switched to Pourtash, but he was a twit once he became an NPC and Kylah had no truck with him. I guess she's fickle. If Rangin ever goes NPC (God forbid), she'll turn her wanton seductress ways to Graham.

Can't give you a picture, but yes, his body is close to the edge of the path that goes around the perimeter of the park. He could, as noted in the game thread, have fallen onto the grass without walking on the lawn. I never said he was towards the middle of one of the quadrants.

Although please could you comment on the scent trail theory that he has been following. If he walked down the path and was attacked there, it should be obvious where he came from.
I don't think Rangin has a particularly keen nose, and I don't recall tricorders ever having been shown as being capable of tracking scents.

If you want to make an argument here for Rangin, or his tricorder, having that capability, I'm all ears... er, eyes.
It would be the tricorder, not Rangin. Rangin can smell coffee a mile off, this would be a little trickier. But the principle is the same in a way.
Scent, aroma, odour whatever you want to call it is effectively a set of complex chemicals that are emitted by something. When enough of them gather, they set off the nerves in your nose and it triggers the brain with stimuli. Rangin was effectively trying to convert his tricorder into something similar to a bloodhound, which is capable of following scent trails over several hours old. The tricorder should certainly be capable of detecting the chemicals in the air and on the ground, that's its job. Mr Wilson is right there, so its easy to get a sample of those chemicals from him into the tricorder to try and follow his trail as to where he had come from.
As to why Rangin is doing it, as a xenobiologist who likes animals, he's looking to try something different. The main animals involved in work like this are used to track people, so he's doing the same. Besides, its something most people never consider, much preferring to use their eyes instead.
FWIW I think it sounds logical. One more vote for giving the tricorders smellovision! :)

There's a very interesting question overall given the limits of the imagination at TOS's time versus the limits of technology as things have panned out...
Transporter beams for biological organisms are probably no closer to being a viable thing - but (I am not arguing the point, because I don't want a pile of rocks to fall on Graham:D ) as one example, a surveillance system that recorded every moment of every inch of the facility and was able to pattern-identify a "violent action" (or even a "behavior likely to turn violent") is entirely feasible today - it would be super expensive, but it's technically doable.
In our real world, the time period of TOS I'd bet "the entire city of London or New York" will have such a thing.
Hmm. If Rangin wants to take some time to set and calibrate his tricorder to follow scents, he can try. Delaney may be able to help him.

I just took another look at post 1421, and he doesn't mention scanning for scent, in particular.
