Peanut Butter and...

I have earned a rep for building strange sandwiches. Sandwiches that, I kid you not, have actually made people wretch.

I say these people are close minded and play by silly rules of what-goes-with-what and "dear-me,-that's-not-breakfast-food."

So, perhaps as catharthis, I present here a few of my favorite
sanwiches. All of these begin with God's gift to mankind, Kim Delaney (sorry, different thread)...I mean peanut butter.

I have set this up as a poll. I ask that you select the ridiculed sammich that offends you most.

Also, please, if you have a mockedwich you liked to share with the group, please do.

Peanut butter and oreo sounds pretty good. I'd leave off the butter, myself. I don't see that as too disgusting so much as, what's the point? It wouldn't really add anything flavorwise.

I would totally eat a peanut butter and Oreo sandwich. I think it could work.

A Zuul family classic is a sandwich with peanut butter, caramelized onions, a fried egg, and bacon. Don't knock it until you try it. :fist:

None of those sandwiches really bug me, though I guess I'd choose the relish one simply because the consistency would be off.

I don't eat meat anymore, but peanut butter and bacon is a natural.

And onions...yum.

Vegan bacon bits work, too. That's how my mom always ate it. The smokiness works very nicely with the peanut.

I can't choose any of the sandwich possibilities - it's lacking the ambrosia that is peanut butter, american cheese processed cheese food, and banana.

I feel so oppressed. :(

I'm a purist...I don't even like jelly with my peanut butter. Give me peanut butter on nice wholegrain bread, and I couldn't be happier.

Well, I could, but not with peanut butter. ;)

Peanut butter is glorious enough to be celebrated on its own, but is also should be schmeared on other stuff. Lots of stuff.

I did exactly this with Sinckers Bars and was laughed out of the house.

Peanut butter and epi-pen-RabbitMage is allergic these days.

Prior to this, though, my favorite use of peanut butter was in a peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich-chilled, bruised, slightly soggy from a day spent in a lunchbox-with potato chips added in. Your favorite kind will do, but I preferred nacho cheese Doritos or sour cream and onion chips.

Peanut butter and Kraft singles on Ritz crackers. It may be my favorite snack in whole world.

Peanut butter and anchovies! Try it.

Another RabbitMage Household classic: Peanut Butter and maple syrup. This is especially good on graham crackers and apple slices.

My brother routinely mixes up peanut butter, chocolate syrup, and occasionally sugar in a cereal bowl. At eats it. With a spoon.

Couldn't vote because none of those options offends me in the least, and there are quite a few that I've eaten myself. Other things that go great with peanut butter are:

lettuce
apricot jam
bananas
bacon
mayonaise
cheese
chicken

...really, is there anything that ISN'T good combined with peanut butter? I think not.

How about "peanut butter and nothing" and with it? No peanut butter.

Holy hell, I consider myself pretty omnivorous, and I would just as happily eat a "peanut butter and pencil shaving" sandwich as half of the shit in that poll.

I picked the Pickle Relish. Yuck.

I do like slicing a large apple and spreading peanut butter on the slices. It works on Celery too.

I remember having peanut butter with celery once at a party. I ate it. Alcohol was involved.
Can't remember if I liked it.

The relish thing is pretty widespread.

We've been driven underground by those who would mock us...but our numbers would surprise you.

Peanut butter +soy sauce + balsamic vinegar. Mix it all up. Use it as dip, salad dressing, whatever you like. YUM.

I didn't like any of the poll options particularly, but none of them horrified me.

I like crunchy peanut butter on whole wheat with either raspberry or strawberry jam (grape is just too boring).

I used to eat peanut butter on celery, but not in a long time.

For breakfast when I was a kid (and had just learned to use the toaster oven), I liked to lightly toast the bread, then put peanut butter on it and pop it back in until the peanut butter was just a little browner on top, and then sprinkle cinnamon sugar on it. Mmmmmmm good.

I also went through a teen phase of putting peanut butter on sharp cheddar cheese slices. Haven't done that in awhile, either.

Oddly, I don't like peanut butter cookies, and never have.
