The most and least delicious thing you ate this holiday season
Thread title says it all - so, what was it?
The most delicious thing I ate was only peripherally tied to the holidays. My mother came for a Christmastime visit and had health problems, so we ended up in Singapore for medical treatment. In between doctor's appointments we had lunch at a chain restaurant featuring "nyonya cuisine" (which is a blend of Malaysian, Chinese, and perhaps a few other SE or South Asian influences). The string beans in belachan (Malaysian dried shrimp paste) were pure ecstasy.
Least delicious: we went to a dessert party on Christmas night. For middle-aged farts like us, a dessert party is actually not a great idea, since we're mostly watching our weight and losing our taste for sweets. But everyone brought fabulous desserts anyway, and so the vast array of sweet things was pretty overwhelming. I had some chocolate mousse that was truly uninspired - no chocolate taste at all, it was just like eating sweetened lard. Blehh.
And you?
