Shout-outs to Indiana Jones in Dan Brown's latest book?
I just started reading Dan Brown's latest book, The Lost Symbol (I know, I know...my brain is fried, people, this is about the most effort I can expend to read these days!) Last night I was a bit surprised to see one of the most famous lines from all of the Indiana Jones series was quoted exactly..."You have chosen poorly," which is in the final scene of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. As I continued to read, a couple pages later he uses the phrase "leap of faith," which is also used in that same movie, later in the same scene. Of course, I wouldn't have connected "leap of faith" to the movie if it hadn't been in such close proximity to "you have chosen poorly" in both the movie and in Brown's book.
In thinking about it, I realize that the Holy Grail is the subject of both Brown's last book (The DaVinci Code) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade...so do you think I'm right in assuming that Brown is doing a shout-out to the movie here? Seems like it's all too much of a conicidence not to be, right?
I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more...if he works in "we named the DOG Indiana," then I'll know for sure! :)
