Amateur Radio operators/afficionados here?
My inner nerd is screaming this morning. Forgive me.
I'm curious to find out how many Dopers/DoMeBo-ers are HAMs or amateur radio enthusiasts, for a few reasons:
A) Just for the hell of it. Wanted to start a discussion
B) Just for the hell of it. Wanted to ask a few equipment related questions a little later . . .
C) Just for the hell of it. I have considered going for my amateur license, and am curious on which band to go for first.

I'm not a ham, but I am a shortwave/DX enthusiast. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get any good stations. If anyone has any suggestions for stations that are listenable in the Northeast, I'd be interested.

Okay, i'm totally outing myself here.
I am VE1TV. first licenced in 1972.
I'm more of a listener than a talker. I like to see who shows up on 6925 (the pirate watering hole) on the weekends.

MsRobyn:
Much of the shortwave pirate activity originates in the northeast. (don't ask me how I know) Tune to 6925 Khz dring the weekends. WBCQ is from Maine.
There is all kinds of stuff to listen to.
