Life and the movies

Yesterday as I was leaving work, a woman stopped me and asked me what the building was I was leaving. I told her, and she started talking about what a beautiful old building it was. And, she said, "I'm from Italy, I know about beautiful buildings". She was exactly the type of Italian woman Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida used to play in the movies, vivacious, charming, totally over the top.

She asked me how to get to Yorkville. If it had been a movie, I would have taken her there, and offered to buy her a drink at the Avenue Bar.

Since it wasn't a movie, I gave her directions, and got on the subway to meet my wife and kid.

You didn't even get her number or email address. The next Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan film just lost its screenplay.

Well, you can comfort yourself in the knowledge that you are obviously attractive enough that a total stranger would want to come on to you.

She's totally into you.

Well, obviously. Duh.

A friend and I were extras in The Avengers earlier this week, while it was filming in Cleveland. If all goes well, you might see us on screen in May!
