Jury Service for Tabby Sal.

A summons for Tabby Sal was sent out to appear to perform jury service in Boston (US). However, Tabby Sal is a cat and although they had been on the last census as a pet, it appears they had also ended up on the list of possible jurors.

So when the summons came, the cat's owner responded the only logical way they could in the form, saying Tabby Sal was unable to speak and understand English due to being a cat.

Apparently this was not enough for the court, who insisted that Tabby Sal should attend court or be considered in contempt.

How is a cat going to care, I mean all it would take would be the defendant to offer some salmon before a "Not Guilty" verdict came back.

Cat's are notoriously tough on cat burglars too. They just would not make fair jurors at all. Also more prone to sleeping through testimony then the average senior.

Jury commissions are notoriously skeptical of such claims. Unfortunately with good reason. The lengths that people will go to to evade jury duty can be appalling to consider. Just look at some of the shit that's come up on the Durp when the question has been asked.

I can't recall a pet section on the census - but it would have been something I glossed over anyways.

Tabby Sal kind of sounds like a stage name for a furry drag queen. I can see where they'd make the mistake.
