Damn straight you should vote. It's amazing how many things it affects.
I always cringe when I hear the jury-duty excuse. Dodging jury duty by not voting is double dipping on failed civic duty. Jury duty sucks, no doubt, but folks in trouble with the law deserve the service of real folks who often have real jobs and real schedules. It sucks, but it matters.
If I ever ended up in trouble with the law, I would want working folks on my jury, not the folks who are free during the day.
I chose People really should try and vote as while I really think people should vote I also think they need to inform themselves at least to some degree before they do. I am not sure a completely ignorant vote is a good vote.
My mom is doing the "I hate them both, so I'm just not voting!" thing that she did during the Presidential election. It amazes me.
Aussies have to vote or pay a fine or be beheaded or something.
I think that's an excellent system.
I read this idea once where instead of elections, people were drafted to office, like being called for jury duty. I think that idea has merit, too.
