I'm with you. I adore lime. I use it in a lot of different things, both savory and sweet, and it's delightful. Orange is a close second (and my orange whiskey chicken will make you weep). Lemon is fantastic as well, but it comes last out of the three for me.
See, for me it just kinda depends on what I'm doing with it. I absolutely love to eat oranges, but I'm not wild about it as a flavoring. Lime is great in a lot of savory recipes, and of course in cocktails. Lemon I love as dessert flavoring, but not so much in my dinner. So...I gots love for all of them, each in its own place.
I also love grapefruit. Just saying.
Anyone else ever eat a grapefruit all by itself like an orange, no sugar or anything? I love them that way.
Only the proper sour ones. None of this pink, sweet grapefruit BS. If you want a goddamned tangerine, eat a tangerine.
I would not count that as eating a grapefruit.
I'm not too big on citrus, I guess. I used to drink OJ every day, but I've gotten out of the habit. And citrus flavored foods aren't generally high on my list of things I crave, although lemon/lime zest and juice can make a lot of things pop.
I put lemon on the top because I love the smell the most.
Voluntarily eating grapefruit is just crazyness.
I won't lie. I ranked them purely on their compatibility with hard liquor. It was close, but clear-cut.
Lime, lemon and then orange. Orange is forever associated with hypoglycemic attacks and having to bolt down OJ or orange glucose tabs to bring blood sugars back up. Lime and lemon FTW!
We are a group of lime lovers, it seems.
