You know, I'm equally as horrified and so decided to do a little research to see why the movie studios keep remaking these cartoon classics in CGI and 3d. You ready?
Garfield: The Movie. CGI. 2004. Worldwide gross? around $199,000,000.
Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties. 2006. Worldwide gross? around $160,000,000
Alvin and the Chipmunks. CGI. 2007. Worldwide gross? around $217,000,000 Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. 2009. Worldwide gross is $219,000,000 !!!!
Well, now at least I know why they keep pumping out these horrid remakes. Because, apparently, they are huge fucking money; especially since those figures don't count in merchandising either.

Yep! Even at work, we have an "At the Movies" display in the kids department, and that shit sits up there 'til long after the movie's left theaters. Kids who haven't seen the movies have still seen the commercials, and still want the books, t-shirts, plush, and so on....

The grosses for the Alvin movies didn't surprise me, everybody knows they were big hits. I had no idea the Garfield movies did so well, though.

I wish they had at least cast me to do the voice of Yogi Bear, or failing that, someone who, y'know sounds like Yogi Bear.
