New Idea for Front Page: The Best (X) You Never (Y)

I've been thinking and thinking and thinking about the front page, because even though we have had some really great contributions from members of the board, we don't really have a concrete focus or purpose. Mostly that's because we're a general interest board (also, I don't want to retread any "But what's our point" ground).

But then I had an idea! And I'm running with it, and I really need everybody's help. Everybody here has an interest or a hobby. Something they're really invested in (well at least one, probably more). So I want to take inspiration from Leonard Maltin's "151 Best Movies You've Never Seen" and have a weekly (or biweekly) feature along the same lines.

The Best (Blank) You've Never (Watched/Read/Tasted/Experienced).

The best movies, television shows, music, food, books, guitars, alcohol, roller coasters, cars, I don't care. You can even play around with the theme. "The best Stephen King book you probably never read." "The best Chevrolet you've never drove." It could be a recommendation (Get out there and try this!) or it can just be a profile (you can't try this, but here's why you should).

Thoughts? Suggestions? Volunteers?

ETA: I'd like the articles to be somewhere between 750-1500 words (though you're welcome to write something longer if you so desire). Anything shorter is just a blurb, which isn't what I'm aiming for.

I can volunteer on the auld music front.

I can offer something music related, too. And I think Aggie and I have different enough interests in that area that we can both find something without stepping over each other.

Awesome. I think that everybody here could probably write something up on their favorite obscure bands and not step on anybody's toes. Which is basically why the idea is so attractive to me.

Maybe I can do something on Yes, it is the most obscure once popular group I know a lot about.

I could probably easily come up with a film recommendation if someone reminds me to do it.

I can do some movies and documentaries that are relatively obscure.

I'm working on "The Best Working Novelist You've Never Read." He's a bit private and reclusive, but once I hear back from him, I'll write up the article. :)
