The ATP, the governing body of Men's Tennis, is looking at adding a new championship in addition to the four majors.

The idea being mooted is to get rid of the Davis cup, which appears to have a really strange format anyway and replace it with a World Cup style format every couple of years instead.

It would be a 10 day tournament between 32 nations every two years with a few innovations to speed up the game and allowing things like substitutions during matches.

I think this could be a really cool idea and certainly appeal to more people to watch tennis. Also, as it is every couple of years, I think the players would probably feel better about playing in it, than the current Davis Cup, which seems to have a spate of the top players missing from it.
