    Default Find the recurring theme

Every post, indeed every sentence, has some unusual oddity, a feature of language that keeps rearing it's ugly head. I offer no further hints as to whether it is relating to spelling, grammar, nomenclature or something else, or as to where it was first introduced.

Are you able to crack this tantalising puzzle, this unsolved mystery, this linguistic endeavour? I wish you good luck on this quest.

I wish I could say that your sentence was a successful achievement but, by the rules of this game and complete honesty, I can't.

I'm picking over every sentence you post, AllWalker, but I still can't nail down your thematic reoccurrence.

I suppose I could present you with this free gift of more clues. This pattern is hardly a novel innovation in language - it is something that is used all the time. It is not some obscure technique or ancient anachronism, but rather a common feature in language. To quickly summarise, it is something you use - in fact, while jali has unfortunately missed the mark, Zuul has, perhaps accidentally, stumbled across it in the lovely post #5.

Myrna, what an unexpected surprise, do come in... though I'm sorry to say your post doesn't fit the theme.

This might be too hard, so I'll offer up a more solid clue as an added bonus.

The title follows the rule, which is to say, "Find the recurring theme" adheres to the recurring theme.

It is absolutely essential that you concentrate, people. Each and every attempt to far, with one exception, has missed the mark. Keep trying, don't postpone until later your attempts to crack this one. Refer back to my posts. If you have, repeat again.

I would offer a cash money prize to the first person to figure it out, but I'm poor. All I can offer is my favourable approval.

Well I am very confused by AllWalker's riddle.

Some useful clues would go some way towards allowing a successful interpretation of the initial post.

That is an error, not sure if you are referring to that, or simply mistyped. that is one of the too common errors on the net, and it grates on my nerves every time I see it.

By Jove, we have a winner, the end result of which is my congratulations to kk fusion!

Now that you have the basic fundamentals, care to post again, just to be sure?

Do you want the number of winners to grow larger, or are you going to shut the game now?

Spare me your grateful thanks, but it's time for another clue - it is nothing to do with spelling, grammar, or anything like that. The recurring theme is a linguistic device, something employed (intentionally or not) to create a particular effect.

... yeah, I think this counts, though by my own personal opinion it's debatable.

(And yes, it's = it is, I know, you crazy lunatics, that mistake bugs me too.)

The answer is spoilered for you:

    Spoiler (mouseover to read):

The recurring theme is the presence of rhetorical tautologies in each sentence. For example,

"Every post, indeed every sentence, has some unusual oddity, a feature of language that keeps rearing it's ugly head. I offer no further hints as to whether it is relating to spelling, grammar, nomenclature or something else, or as to where it was first introduced.

Are you able to crack this tantalising puzzle, this unsolved mystery, this linguistic endeavour? I wish you good luck on this quest."
