A 47-year-old Garden City man has been bound over for trial on criminal sexual conduct charges in Wayne County Circuit Court. Eric Cale Walls waived his right to a preliminary examination Monday in 21st Garden City District Court. and was bound over for trial by Judge Richard Hammer.
Walls has been charged with nine counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13 years of age, two counts of child abusive commercial activity, two counts of computer use to commit a crime, two counts of abuse of the Communications Act, computers, and nine counts of second-degree criminal sexual activity.
No bond was ordered and Walls remains in Wayne County Jail. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
Deputy Chief Robert Muery referred questions to the prosecutor because this is an “open and active” case.
Reportedly, the victims are acquaintances. Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor Keith Clark, assigned to the Child Abuse section, said that the violations took place during a time period from 2001-09.
“There are allegations of child pornography,” added Maria Miller, assistant prosecutor for Wayne County and director of communications.
Defense attorney Mack Carpenter couldn't be reached for comment by deadline.
In binding Walls over for trial, Hammer also signed an orders for counseling and testing for disease and infection and DNA profiling.
