Mine was sent out the other day. I dunno if it will make it to the recipient before Christmas, it has a handmade card in it. Enjoy!

Mine is now subject to the tender mercies of the U.S. Postal Service. But I did get delivery confirmation, so I can make sure it doesn't get lost in the Abyss.

I really pushed things until the last minute and didn't mail mine until this morning. So I apologize, because it'll probably be a few days late. I probably should have included a note inside explaining about the gift since it might seem random otherwise. I suppose I can explain it better once my Santee receives it.

It is sort of fun reading these posts and wondering "hmm, am I that person's Santee?"

In an ironic twist that really anybody could have predicted, my giftee will get their gift late. Sorry mysterious giftee. Hopefully, it'll be worth it.

Our gift was mailed almost two weeks ago, and barring rain, sleet, or driving hail, our giftee should probably have it by now.

So, uh. My Christmas gift might be a New Year's gift, depending on the speed of the USPS.

    Happy new year, SS!

    I received mine today! Woo!

The postmaster was sure to point out the label on it which states, and I quote:

No live animals. Resist the urge to open before Christmas!
It shall dutifully sit under the tree for the next few days.

Oh thank god. I mailed mine today so the recipient will get it late as well. Luckily I wasn't the only one so it won't be painfully obvious. Although I realized I forgot to include a card because I'm a doofus. I'll have to send a prettiful PM or something.

(Also, I realized a little bit ago, that I gave Pepper my school address and here I am at home. So I won't be able to get the package until sometime in January. Cuz I'm a doofus.

artifex and I received our gift today!

It's the Ken Burns documentary on World War II, on six DVDs. Having greatly enjoyed his Civil War and baseball documentaries, I'm totally excited to watch this!

And since our secret Santa signed the package, I have no qualms about outing my benefactor. Cheers, TFR you SOB!

Vison sent me TWO packages! The first was a gift pack from British Columbia which included a subscription to the magazine. I love it!

Then I received a box of delicious chocolates from the Canadian company Purdy's.

I'm very happy. Thank you vision!

    Default Apology

Due to my recent hospitalization and D having her hands full, we have not been able to send our gift to its recipient.

It is coming, however and I HOPE before the end of the year, so it will still be withing the season.

I am really sorry about this and also wish to thank "Hidden Hannukah Harry" for his lovely presents of the potolder, frame and magnet of the eye! I think that will keep me on my diet and D will enjoy using the potholders!

Again, my sincere apologies and I hope my Secret Santa recipeient has a very happy holiday!.

Not that I'm claiming to have any inside knowledge, but I'm pretty sure you have a Hidden Hanukkah Harriet, who knitted that potholder by hand. Use it in health, my friend.

Ahem. It's coming, however your Secret Santa was warned that it would likely be late arriving due to the heavy burden on the USPS. It should be there no later than the 28th.

I opened my SS gift this morning and thank you, thank you, thank you, Secret Santa (can I out you or not?)! It was very thoughtful and sweet (though reading your letter aloud made my family wonder if I was getting presents from Dexter Morgan due to the blood reference). It included a message in a bottle kit (including somebody else's message), a lovely bath bomb, an art calendar featuring the artwork of Ruth Lieberherr, and a copy of Walt Whitman's Song of Myself. I particularly liked that you'd already underlined some stuff in the book!

I'm glad you approve. I'm kind of surprised you were able to read my sloppy ass, illiterate 5 year old handwriting.

Like I said though, hope you enjoy it and merry christmas.

I haven't got mine yet, but it has a long way to go, so I don't mind. Also, for reasons I won't divulge because that would spoil the surprise, I know my gift has not reached its recipient either. So, fun in January awaits a few of us!

I wasn't going to say anything about the handwriting, but yeah, I was kind of relieved that the package didn't contain anthrax powder.

I opened my gift from jali on Christmas day (but didn't have the chance to post before now), and it was so awesome! "Pepper" was the theme of the giftbox and the items were just adorable. I think my favorite was the peppermint candy shot glass. The Asiagio Rosemarry and Pepper crackers also might become my favorite crackers of all time (I've got a good feeling about them, but I'm saving them for NYE).

Yeah, I was somewhat dismayed when they gave me that total for the shipping. I asked about trying to send it faster and...well, I might as well have just mailed you a check at that point. I'm so glad it finally arrived.

While I did not make them with my own two hands, those are reproduction vintage books which I've helped prepare for republishing. Some of them are very cute, some of them are odd. I'd wanted to actually make something new for Christmas, but just didn't have the time so went with something I've "made" before.

The postage for the same stuff from me to you would have been roughly half that. Thanks so much!

In my defense, I explained how that was a dirty ol' regift... as oppose to the other stuff which I specifically sought out.

And I haven't thanked my gifter yet. The wonderful Orual sent me two beautiful watercolors she painted herself. A really really sweet gift which I can't wait to show off to others.

Actually, it was the regifting that made it so cool. I enjoyed it much more because of that. Gifts with history are the best.

I got home to Jakarta and opened my wonderful Secret Santa gift from An Gadai - the book Brooklyn by Colm Toibin, which I am sure I will love reading (about an Irish immigrant to Brooklyn who eventually returns home), and a homemade Christmas card that says "Merry Christmas"* in Gaelic. I'm quite tickled! Thank you so much.

*Or I guess that's what it says - it could translate to "Elephants Rule" or "Eat More Roughage" for all I know. But the Christmas tree on the page is a big hint about the meaning.

    ((((HATSHEPSUT!))))

Thank you for the wonderful coffee! I don't have a grinder at school so I will save it for when I am home on break and then my parents can try it as well. I'm sure they'd be ecstatic at trying kopi luwak but I'll still wait to tell them exactly what it's about until after their first cup. And the card is so purdy! Is there any significance to the person on the front?

Whew! I was wondering if you'd ever get back to school. I'm glad your gift was awaiting you when you returned.

I don't remember which character is on the card I sent, but that was a "shadow puppet" figure, probably from the Ramayana.

Oh, who am I trying to kid? The only wayang character I can kind of identify (except for the clowns and ogres) is Arjuna, and the only epic plot I half-way remember is the Ramayana, so I always think every puppet is Arjuna from the Ramayana. (You know my current avatar? It's ARJUNA! From the RAMAYANA!)

That looks like the head of the character on the card! In fact, I just looked it up on wikipedia and it's a match. This Arjuna character is an interesting fellow. Where's my poster putty? I think I'll hang this card on the door to my room.
I don't think so, therefore I'm probably not.
