Pain perdu. It means "lost bread," since it was originally a way of salvaging yesterday's stale bread into something yummy.

They call it the same thing that Brits call English Muffins, which I believe is "G'uvnor". Which is German for "Tricycle".

I've heard British people call it "eggy bread", which makes sense.
I call it pain doré, but as previously mentioned some call it pain perdu.
