I made plans for the weekend thinking it would be a FUN THREE DAY WEEKEND BUT NO!

I AM ON CALL

I forgot all about saying I'd be on call for this holiday. WHY??? WHYYYYYYYY?

I am raeging and angry.

That bites. Being on call is sorta a drag if there is even a moderate chance you're going to get called in. Do they at least pay you extra for being on call?

I'm serving on a federal jury for a couple of months and yet still have to work Mondays ( trial meets Tues - Fri ), including this Labor Day. But I really don't mind this week - I'll be making double time and a half for working the holiday .

Honestly, I can't complain. I get paid $4.50 an hour for just sitting here if I don't get called. I get time and a half if I have to actually work.

Hang on? They give you $4.50 per hr for doing nothing but being ready to drop everything, but if you get called out they give you an extra $2.25? That means they value your presence away from work more than your actual time working.

Tell them, if you have to work, you want at least as much for working, as you get for when you are sat at home twiddling with your hair.

Oops, sorry Ivan. I get 4.50 per hour for doing nothing but being ready to drop everything. I have no idea how they came up with that dollar amount, just the going rate I guess.

If I get called to work I my normal salary plus 50% for each hour I work.

Not too bad, to be paid to be on call, but I understand your rage...sometimes you just want to be free of even thinking about work. I have to keep track of work stuff a lot of times when I'm on vacation. I don't usually have to actually do anything, but just be sure that progress is being made on stuff while I'm gone. The times when I don't have to do that are like heaven.
